Hi everyone and welcome to any new people as well:) I haven't really had the chance to come on here as it has been very busy for us with having our ds and his fiancee' come to stay for a while. It is lovely to have them here, however the wee bungalow is only big enough for the two of us and the washing machine is on more, food bill is higher etc.:) ah well........ They have been travelling together and are hoping to go again but not for some time yet..... help :)
enjoyed reading all the posts and great to see a new thread too. My dh and I are growing tomatoes carrots potatoes and lettuce for starters in the back garden, so we will see how it turns out. The potatoes are in a big Ikea bag:) and the other things are growing in a raised bed which my dh and ds made for me, and I am delighted with it.:j
It is such a peaceful little place where we moved to in December in the snow. The lovely neighbour said we will find little surprises in the garden when the Spring came, and we have, so it is so good. There is a beautiful Lilac tree by the back gate at the end of the driveway, and bluebells rose bushes Azelea trees and Camellia (sp) can't spell that one sorry. I bought a lot of little plants too and have some bits and pieces of our own from the last house(kept indoors when the snow came) and every morning when I go out and take in a wonderful smell from the Lilac tree I feel truly blessed we live in a little corner of heaven, as our last place was so stressful. We love it here and feel very rich in that we have all we need in life. Simple little pleasures and enough money to get by and to save for later, no matter how little is enough for us.:T
Do a little kindness every day.;)

As much as he loves me it can get boring just talking to one person all the time. :D

Or just ignoring the same person  :D

Garden going a bit mad - the warm weather is really pushing everything ahead, and I just hope that the huge walls that surround the garden will keep it warm enough to protect them until summer.

Planted some runner seeds to scramble up the maize (hopefully) yesterday, McGyvered a cold frame out of some glass from an old oven door and a couple of slats from a rotten old bookcase, the remains of which went to finish off the end of the sunny flower bed.

And then I spotted some lily beetles!

Rather beautiful little things, aren't they? Even when I'm poking through the leaf litter trying to commit bug murder, they are striking looking critters.

Haven't liberated anything from a skip for ages - far too few of them around at the moment, except for those almost overspilling rubble and broken glass around the corner; my tetanus jabs may be up to date, but they don't appear to be worth taking the risk for. Although someone has dumped some scaffold boards on top of the garages a few yards down, so if I acquire the assistance of my man with a ladder, they could come in handy for something.

I am keeping my eyes open for a bit of kitchen worktop to match my units, so I can build out over the washing machine, but have decided that I will leave anything I don't actually need at that moment in case someone else really needs the same thing right now.

Most big supermarkets round here seem to find accepting coupons the hardest thing in the world to do, so I would end up spending hours arguing about whether or not they accept them - most of the stuff isn't anything I need, anyway. But if it's free rather than 10p off, I would probably get it and try to use whatever it is somehow.

Wish I could find a supply of beeswax round here - haven't located the hives my honey bees are visiting from yet. Would make a lovely cream for the boyfriend's eczema and some furniture polish.

Anyway, must go, need to take a wander down to the shop to get milk and the bank holidays usually end with people putting furniture of some kind out - got a small chest of drawers fairly recently and just missed some dining chairs on Saturday as I took too long to summon my willing assistant.

    You're welcome Gailey :)
I think you should maybe sometimes read back through your posts and see just how much you do actually achieve, especially given that you have a 5year old, a 19month old and a 4week old baby

Hippeechiq, make the washing up liquid into a foam and coat the leaves of the plant with the foam/bubbles, this suffocates the little blighters. HTH

Thank you lucielle :), Could you elaborate a bit please though? - I'm having a bit of a brain dead day :o

I'm concerned that if I use too much washing up liquid, I may kill the plant. If I were to use, say, a 500ml spray bottle (same size as a Mr Mu$cle bottle for example) how much WUL should I put in the bottle before adding water?

I assume if I put the WUL in first, then water and then sprayed onto plants that would be foamy - wouldn't it?

    Oh brain,
    Oh brain,
    where art thou? :o :rotfl:

Use a mug of warm water and a splash of washing up liquid then use a small sauce whisk/fork to make the foam?

Just use the same amount as you'd use for washing up and then get it to go foamy.

    Thanks JoJo & Lucielle

Sorry for all the questions that are probably obvious to everyone else, but do I then rinse/wipe it off after a while?

Hi folks havent posted much in the past week as I have been busy but still grabbing a few mins to catch up! 14 pages already!!! Hello newbies and good luck softstuf with whatever you decide to do re the house...
Gailey I get tired just reading your posts and it reminds me of the days when my kids where 4yrs ,20 mnths and 0 ! Busy isnt the word!

I am feeling pretty stressed out at the mo and trying very hard to focus on just getting on with things. Tried to discus finances with ex over the weekend and he is being frustratingly awkward about everything and is acting like I am trying to rip him off. All I want is to get this whole thing sorted fairly for everyone as soon as possible ...but I think he has other ideas and is expecting to get far more money from the house etc than is fair for me and our 3 kids grrrrrr. He said he was going to give me a decision about a question I asked him today but has now said he will call me later in the week. I think he would rather decide everything through his solicitor which in the end will cost a fortune but I know I cant force him to be sensible. Made me laugh that he actually thinks we are getting on well together (he is soo far removed from reality!) but this is all dependent on what he is and isnt willing to discuss. Thats not getting on- its being dictated to! Soz I keep coming on here and moaning but I suppose this all comes under the tough theme..my whole future financial stability(and that of our children) is at stake- and all dependant on the mood swings of an erratic irrational selfish idiot.
