I honestly believe they don't give a sheet about the have-nots. As long as there's free basic services (healthcare, education), and a few pennies to live on (because we all know that JSA is enough for a weekly shop, bills, debts, travel to job centre/interviews, clothing and interview clothing *rolls eyes*), then nobody's going to die of poverty (/sarcasm). They prove it with the hollow "we're all in this together" rubbish. While I believe in the CONCEPT of that statement, it's born out of the tories doing what they do best - squeezing the financial life out of everyone and everything and leaving Joe Public to pick up the real, ground-level cost.
Thatcher stripped society of "society", and now Cameron's pretending he wants to glue it all back together. Shyeah.
*steps off soapbox*The borrowing is too high but I am no fan of the Tories, having a very good memory of the whole Thatcher period and studying ecomonics at the time. My take on the situation is that many of the cuts are ideologically driven, esp those aimed at the public sector (confession of special interest, I work for a council myself).
In the last couple of years of the last Tory government, they ran rampage like a looting army retreating over land they couldn't hold; taking as much of the public wealth as possible into the hands of themselves and their cronies.
To me, what we have now looks like a government which knows it won't see out a 5 year term and is determined to get as much of it's agenda (and do as much looting as poss) before they're forced out.
EDIT; thanks, Kimitatsu, for reminding us that it was about single people on the LHA; I was posting in a hurry and assumed you all have access to the inside of my head.....;)Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

The price of suncream!
I must have had my head in the clouds for a long while as I got a shock at the price £16 for soltan (is that not a boots own brand..... cheaper!?)
I haven't budgeted for that this week. Thats 4 days meals worth there wrapped up in something which I think is damn necessary but I'm having my eyes ripped out. I settled on a factor 30 soltan for the children and for £9 (still not happy) and have to do without myself.
Is there such a thing as cheap suncream?0 -

Try A1di or L1dl, I think if I remember one of theirs came out top, or try Av0n, they usually have good 3 for 2's on suncream.
TBH any of the supermarkets are cheaper than Bo0ts & if you have a H0me B4rgain near you they usually have the brands for a few pounds not the £9 or £10 you'd pay elsewhere. HTH.0 -

yip definitely a school boy error going in boots but doubt I would have gotten any in carpet shop, B&Q, argos, curry's or next. My very own stupidly daft fault for not being organised I guess. I am shopping in Aldi tonight too. What a fool
Thanks LannyLee0 -

I bought a factor 15 from Poundland last year - only for myself and hubby, it seems to work as we've not suffered with sunburn using it.0 -

Is there such a thing as cheap suncream?I've been using the Factor 30 one in Poundland for several years; 75ml in the yellow tube. Seems just as good as anything else and I'm a very fair redhead and have used it abroad. I got one there last week which was also 75 ml and Factor 30 and had The Simpsons on it......:rotfl:I agree that they're gouging so-and-sos; this is discrimation against pasty people!

lol at discrimination against pasty people. Made me laugh.:rotfl:
Just had a pack through the door from british heart foundation. I'm a member and get their magazine regular. Anyway, if I refer a friend for the health matters pack I will receive a free book. I'm referring my sister as she should be aware anyway - family history.
You never guess which book?! The one ceridwen suggested. Jo Wittingham's Grow something to eat everyday. I am so utterly thrilled but feel a little bitthat they're a charity and I really should buy it myself

This kind of thing is why you should not feel guilty about the book. It makes me cross that so little of what is donated actually goes to the people in need. Look at Haiti, people are still living amongst the rubble, very little has been done by those in power so where is the money?
Small charities tend to send more of the money they receive.0
