Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Littlecal - just a tad. But the mystery is intensifying. It is NOT from the OH!!!! I have no idea where it has come from. I am beginning to wonder whether it is mine!

I had my burner on over the weekend as I was chilly. I think we have got used to such hot weather that when it dips back to normality we feel it more.

Smileyt, I have visions of you being dragged down the road with your feet out behind you now. :D

Speaking of which, I saw a woman with a great dane the other day and in its mouth was the biggest toy you have ever seen! Like a big squishy chicken. I have seen them before so it seems this dog doesnt go anywhere without this thing. Its very funny to see.

Just popping back with a thought for Softstuff - can you record a short message for your friend which your mum can play to her? I know a few people who have done this and the doctors have said that whilst the patient doesnt appear to respond they think it does get through - and I know it made the senders feel at sense of ease to have been able to "speak" their final message when not there as it were. ((HUGS))
I also think this is a really good idea. I was with someone close to death last week. I was talking to them, reminiscing about past times and remembering funny incidents etc. When I said goodbye there was a slight but definite squeeze on my hand. They had been taking in my voice although didn't have the strength to do more than breathe x

    Hi ancienctmum :hello:
trifles Your party sounds lovely :)

Congratulations on the arrival of baby Joseph Stiltwalker :T

Thanks for that suggestion Grandma24 - that sounds simple enough.

I suppose if I froze them in batches of 200g (which is how much I tend to use at a time) then did the boiling water thing, I'd just need to add a bit of tom puree to make the consistency similar to that of tinned tomatoes, would I?

    Hi Hippeechiq,
We grow about 30 tomato plants here. There are just the two of us a lot of the time. DD1, DSIL and 3DGSs join us for meals Sat, Sun and Tues as well as occasional Fridays etc. DD2 is here in the uni holidays.
We use the tomatoes fresh in salads and side salads. Also use them sliced for snacks such as added to grilled cheese on toast.
Obviously we have surplus. This is deliberate. We give them a quick wash, whizz in the food processor and then simmer in a big pot to reduce volume by half. Leave this to cool, then place in containers and freeze. The frozen toms are then used in recipes in place of tinned tomatoes. Also add onions and chilli to make salsa for Fajitas and Nachos.
This kept us going for most of the winter. Have had to buy tinned toms for the past couple of months.
    Hope that helps x

Welcome to our world baby Joseph, and congratulations to your mummy.

Smileyt sorry, but I'm still giggling at the squirrel incident. What kind of dog is Bruno?

Sammy another [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] interested person here who can't wait to see some photos.

The house elf is still off with a slightly dodgy tum. As he's eaten a round of toast, some popcorn and a packet of mini cookies so far this morning, I am assuming that he is on the mend. He hasn't actually been that ill, just his bottom end has been a bit unreliable. I'm keeping him off school because they're currently training them to only go to the toilet at break time, and everyone knows that just isn't possible if you have a slightly dodgy tum. Unfortunately, I can't rely on his teachers to let him go if he needs to, so here he stays. He's been playing Wii fit plus. Apparently you can dress your little character as a chicken and flap like a chicken to make your character fly. My turn later - I can't wait :o

I'm hoping to get my sticker for 2 stone weight loss on Thursday. It's my birthday that day, so it would be a nice present. Although paying to go to fat class isn't very MSE I am regarding it as an investment in mine and my son's future. I can't do it on my own - I've tried. I am however following it by cooking proper home made food and not by eating out of packets. I even have a stash of home made burgers in the freezer in case the sun ever comes out for long enough for us to have a BBQ.

    Take care all of you.
