Hi
Here are pics from BEFORE I went over it with the Dulux paint.
(you need to look hard to see the problems, sorry its a bit dark)
After I went over it with Dulux it looked a bit better, then I had the idea of going over the ceiling left to right, rather than up to down and I have managed to clear it up a little more now.
But I wont fully know what it looks like until the mid day sun comes out.
Thanks0 -
are you using a roller on a pole and painting in straight lines away from the window in full length strokes? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I have recently switched to using the Trade paint the OP bought originally and can't fault the stuff great finish and no problems like the OP is experiencing although looking at the one pic where you can see streaks on my old, rubbish screen laptop it looks as though it hasn't been painted evenly and roller-ed on missing patches? Although I have no real knowledge to offer any real help :rotfl: Just wanted to say the Wickes stuff isn't all bad
Good Luck OP xWife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart

Pole - Yes
Straight Lines - Yes
Away from the window - Not sure what you mean? I'm not starting in the centre of the room if thats what you mean?
Full length strokes - As much as possible
Yes I know it looks like I am not painting it correctly/evenly, but I asure you I am trying to the best of my abilities to get an even coverage.
Its like the paint is being sucked into, or drying too quickly on the plasterboard/small amount of paint thats already on the walls.0 -
You paint the stripes at 90 degrees to the window. i.e. start with the window behind you and work away from it. Don't paint so the window is always on your left or right hand side.0

the surface looks textured, if your rolling on texture use a deeper pile roller.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

Roller not loaded evenly Pics 1,2 and 4. Paint too thick in Pic 2 - also contributing too uneven coverage in other pics.
Sand the rough bits back so they are smooth, thin your original paint by between 5 and 10% and give it another go. If it still feels too thick add a bit more water. Load the roller more often but don't overload. Don't use too much pressure and work in 1 - 2m2 areas so that dry lines don't develop working away from the window so you can see where you have been.
You'll need to cover over the thin bits first to even it all out and then apply to coats to finish.
If you are painting straight onto new plaster or plasterboard you need to prime it first with a mist coat - ie a very thin (watery) coat of emulsion. Use a contract matt for your mist coat.

What keystone has said is spot on but might I add If the ceilings have not been painted since building then then the paint on them will be contract paint for new build and that really sucks the emusion up ,so just make sure you thin the paint a fair bit0
