TRYING to sell property in Bulgaria

Options
Hi all,

I am one of the thousands that bought a few years ago in Bulgaria and now needs to sell. I am fully aware that I will be taking a big hit on price and have accepted that. The trouble is that I am really struggling to find any estate agents that sell there without demanding things like listing fees upfront etc.

Has anyone sold in Bulgaria recently or know of a good way to advertise so that there might be a slim chance of someone buying a property at almost half what was originally paid for it?

what the hell were you thinking.....
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    Well, that's pretty obvious!

The OP read about these great, cheap, property opportunities in an up-and-coming country where he could treble his investment in two years.

What did you think he was thinking?!

I REALLY DON'T KNOW I BOTHER POSTING TO THESE FORUMS TO ASK FOR HELP SOMETIMES WHEN I GET RESPONSES LIKE GEOFFKY - HOW RUDE - YOU KNOW NOTHING OF ME NOR MY CIRCUMSTANCES! PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL!

It must be great to have been able to predict all the way through the last ten years that property around the world was going to crash. Or maybe we bought it for personal use and one of us has been made redundant and cannot go to it and therefore need the money.

IF YOU HAVE NOTHING USEFUL TO ADD DON'T BOTHER!
  • Mmm Bulgaria. Lovely.

I've not seen anything about Bulgaria on here for ages mate, maybe a forum like Singingpig or something would be a better bet?

Unfortunately I would have thought that agents not willing to advertise would be a bad indicator for the state of the market. Is it a nice one; maybe if you hang onto it for a bit the market will pick up?
  • Ignore the nasties. There are quite a few on here as you will soon see.
I don't have anything constructive to say other than why did you buy it? I am not being sarcastic. I am asking because i often look at the cheap properties in Bulgaria myself, not as an investment but as somewhere to go to get away completely or maybe even somewhere to settle in my later years.
Can you not hang onto it as others have said? Why are you wanting to sell now and what sort of problems have you had?
  • Well people seem to be a little negative about people buying abroad , a farming friend of mine rented a farm in wales couldn't make any money so bought a farm for peanuts in Romania and now supplies British supermarkets, soil is as organic as you can get , farm labour is cheap, ACRES 1000 PLUS , down side unlike the uk he has to have security guards patrol his boundary fence. But good luck to any brit wh has the balls to give something different ago sadly as with some posts above it is very British to have a pop at the get up and go and take a risk types.

Are there no Bulgarians who need somewhere to live?
