I have seen "First august god of the Qin" and its not a date reference!
August = venerable, majestic, awe inspiring0 -

A product of our materialistic society, I fear0 -
Some more misused words that have grated on me recently:
Rode instead of ridden;
Peddles instead of pedals;
Grill instead of grille (although I know they're fast being accepted as interchangeable);
Manor instead of manner;
...and possibly the weirdest convolution of poor phonetics I've ever seen, "interminterley" instead of "intermittently"0 -

One that I see often is minor for miner. I thought they stopped children going down the pits years ago.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I can't stand over use and incorrect use of "absolutely" which occurs within moments of the start of most TV interviews and chats, used as in " I agree" or "extremely". They seem to think they are being profound but then they have no word left to refer to the absolute.:eek: I do yell at the TV.:eek:0

Accept and Except are always being used in place of each other, drives me mad! :mad:0

Aaargh - here's another one. Architec (are you trying to wind us up!) says... "I have taken lumps out of my tongue when sat in front of a very well educated young female client.."
Who sat you there? Or do you mean the continuous process of "sitting?"0 -
Something that annoys me is the number of times something is rediculous. There is no E in ridiculous but that's the way lots of people write it0
