Well i cerainly dont expect to receive them, they were being given out (well milk tokens) long before i had my son, I wasnt getting them when i worked and i didnt complain, TBH i wouldnt miss the,m if i didnt get them again.
I hardly think you can compare baby formula to twizzlers.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
I wasnt reffering to you when i was talking about people who expect them, I was talking about people I know that are "outraged" that they have to pay for their formula now.astonsmummy wrote:I hardly think you can compare baby formula to twizzlers.
I would say it is a good comparison tbh, In the same way as a twizzler is a poor imitation of real meat, filled with allsorts of nasties, which could put you at risk of ill health, formula milk is a poor imitation of natural milk, full of all sorts of artificial ingredients, and missing vital good parts.
It puts babies at increased risks of things like ear infections, gastrointestinal problems, obesity, lower IQ etc etc,
quite similar really.0 -
But babies dont need twizzlers to survive, some babies need formula to survive, I'm not disputing breast milk isn't best for baby but i hardly see formula as junk food for infants.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

yeah true kids dont need twizzlers to survive, as there is real food available.
but babies dont NEED formula as there is real milk they can have. Formula is the junk food version of milk, where you consider that junk food would be somethng that is an alternative that is nutritinally inferior.0 -
Sorry to be picky, but what if the mother cant breatfeed for whatever reason, then a baby does need formula.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

i have got 6 kids and no 7 is due in january
whilst i have breastfed all of them for at least 6 mths my youngest are twins and were born prematurely at 33 weeks so they werent able to feed by themselves if they werent given formula they wouldnt have thrived as well as they did because at the start i wasnt producing enough milk
formula was a god send and certainly helped my daughters surviveExtra payment every week challenge £15 so far

There arent actually many reasns why a mother could not breastfeed.
Most people are given poor support and advice whih is the biggest barrier to succesful breastfeding.
The only real reason that would mean a mother CULDNT breastfeed that springsto mind is that she has had breast reduction surgery whih has removed/damaged her ducts.
Or [rem babies, where the babies cant latch on and no stimulation to breats means not enough milk.
A lot of pppl say that it is becuase they "dont make enough milk" but this is normally not true and they have been wrongly advised.
Anyway, in answer to you question, if breastfeeding is not an option, then the alternatives in order of being best are speified as
2, expressed milk from a bottle
3, milk frm a milk bank
4 formula.
FOURTH BEST.
No one is forced to choose fourth best for their child, so formula isnt NEEDED in the majority of cases0 -

while my twins were in scbu there was never any mention of using milk from milk banks i was told my nearest was in birmingham and im in south wales so quite a distance they stopped formula after about 4 days and i breastfed the remainder but i will always be grateful that the formula was available i didnt mention my youngest twin was severely ill and had to be resusitated and i was told that was one of the reasons my milk didnt come through because i was so stressed apparently it can dry your milk up within daysExtra payment every week challenge £15 so far
