We were with them for about 2-3 days before getting rid, their customer support was next to useless.

We could not get online so had to use phone support and if you were in a queue for more than 3 minuets it cut you off. Then their staff would give conflicting advice.

I am just about on the point of ditching them, but I know that half my contacts are so scatty that they won't cope with a new address.
I would still ditch them. I have a few contacst like that as well and a way round it is to log on to your mail account via the web site and in the message centre select OPTIONS. You can have all your emails at Tiscalli copied to another (ie your new one) mail account. It works, I ditched Tiscalli over a year ago.

If you want an invite to Google mail, email me (address in profile) and I will send you one.

I was surprised to read this thread - I have been with Tiscali for ages now (well out of the contract) and have never really had any problems. Am I alone out here??

TalkTalk (carphone warehouse) seem to be having much bigger problems. My neighbour is with them and has not had access to the internet for weeks. He is not English and so I have been trying to sort it out for him. After 3 nights on the telephone (permanently) being told to speak to another person (etc etc) and queuing for up to 30 mins at a time, (at 10p per min with a connection charge of £2 - will have to argue the bill) I had not even registered the problem!!! Eventually I went into carphone warehouse who told me that they had thousands of customers in the same boat and that they would text me with an update. I received a text from them saying that the problem was still unresolved and they would update me again in 48 hours. 48 hours later I received the same text. 48 hours later (blah blah) This went on for about two weeks and suddenly, the texts stopped last week, but does the internet work - NO CHANCE!

I am curious though, for all the people who are leaving Tiscali, where are you going and are they offering something better?

The first sentence of your post is most pertinent here, I have never really had any problems.
My mother is the same she had hassle setting up but when up and running she has been fine.
We however had hassle setting up, 3 months later had to move, continued getting bt bills aswell as tiscali, received 512kb service, while paying for 2mb, and capable of receiving 8mb. Back and for for 6 months will customer service which is in india for email,
I am oh so glad we are finally changing. I have had a little search and asked a few questions on here and will be going with IDNET, as they have uk based customer service with a 0800 number. The 8mb wireless service is 17.99 pm, more expensive than tiscali, but what price quality of service eh?
Oh and there is only 1 month tie in, you can't fault that, if you are not happy you go elsewhere.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.

TalkTalk must read mse lol. They have suddenly sent me another text. The problem is still unresolved (etc etc). What my neighbour is now wondering is whether or not he can cancel his contract with them on the basis of poor service?
  • Having had decent service from Tiscali for 2 years, the last 3 weeks have come as an unpleasant surprise.

My broadband speed has gone from around 1700kbps, to 50kbps!

It takes around 10 mins to open my emails on Outlook:embarasse

So far I have had the complete runraround from the customer services, conflicting advice, unfulfilled promises of replies etc.

I have to laugh at some of the replies you get

    1) After my latest email detailing at length my displeasure at the amount of time it was taking to fix my problem

reply I infer from your e-mail that the issue with the broadband connection persists. !!

    2) I emailed to complain that no-one had called me back as promised

reply - I understand your concern. I truly regret that it is not possible for us to give you a callback since we do not have the necessary tools to make the outbound call. Believe me, if it was possible, we would definitely have arranged the service the way you wished because nothing would please us more than satisfying our esteemed and valuable customer. But we have certain limitations with our tools that do not allow us to modify the service patterns at our discretion

I am going to give them one more week to sort it out, and if not I am off.
