  • Thanks for all of your good wishes and encouragement:D:D:D

Not such a good week on the house and money front though ...:o:o:o

Went out at the weekend, did spend huge amounts, haven't quit smoking yet, been working my bum off at work so have been too tired to do anything when I have come home......:eek::eek: the list goes on......;)

However, today is a new day and although I intend to do very little today - 1st day of holiday so just going to take it easy and allow my head to retreat from work mode at its own pace :D - I am going to make sure that I make the most of this holiday.

The other good thing is that my new financial month started yesterday :T I am going to make sure that I have a really good month this month as I screwed up so badly last month  I am not going to let it get me down though....onwards and upwards as they say....:rotfl:

  • okay, i have decided on what we are eating this week as i have just gone through all my cupboards....i have some tomatoes and a courgette that have seen better days, some pungent green sauce, a bag of tarragon and a bag of sage, some mint & rosemary in my garden, some carrots, onions, new potatoes, half a butternut squash, chillis, garlic, limes, salad leaves and cucumber in my fridge.

Tonight, i will make tomato & mint salad with tarragon chickpea burgers, mixed leaves and new potatoes with pungent green sauce. Tomorrow, i will make butternut squash soup with sage and rosemary foccacia for lunch and black bean, adzuki bean and butternut squash saute with millet and sage served on salad leaves for dinner. Sunday i will make a and 'shepherds' pie and serve it with whatever frozen veg i have hanging around. That will pretty much clear out all my fresh stuff, the rest of the week will be done from my freezer and cupboards.:A

Well, I have got through my first no spend day without any real problem. :T I am not counting direct debits/standing orders or petrol as I use this for work, but i am counting grocery spends and other spends. I am sure that I can do 20 this month....I am determined not to buy any more cigarettes or beer this month, that will stop me going to the shop and ending up with £100 worth of shopping that i didn't want or need really:o:eek:

I am going to count what spare change i have laying around and make that today's coin contribution - then i will update sig with new may amount:D hope you are all having a good day:D

  • Hey onecoincloser
sounds a good plan! I too like the beginning of a "new" financial month as it always feels like a clean slate and one step closer to mortgage freedom! (Im gonna be taking a lot of steps!)
Im also loving the "what have you done today" thread as finds it keeps me motivated on the little things!
  • woohoo!!!:j £1.16 to the mortgage pig yesterday!!! Okay, i may be getting a bit too excited about it, but it matters!:D

I am having a good day today, am getting things organised ready to lay my side garden on tuesday and am looking forward to having a really productive time off work. Normally, i tend to laze around (am still planning on doing some of that :D) but want to make sure that i don't have too much left to do with the house when i return to work...

anyway, best get back to doing my stuff.....happy money saving :D:wave:

  • Oh yes....i have done it again and really fallen off the pig this time!!:wall: I haven't quit smoking :naughty: I haven't sorted my house  and i have really spent far too much money and neglected my budget entirely since i was last on.......

I am not going to dwell however, there is no point in recrimination- I just have to get back on the pig and do better from here on in :D

I have had a mooch in the fridge and cupboards, I am going to have a mizuna and pak choi salad with a balsamic dressing with the thinnings from my greenhouse for lunch which I will serve with sweet potato, hommous and grapefruit and apple salad and for dinner I am making a rosemary, butterbean and tomato casserole served with mixed grains and garlic braised cabbage wedges.......no purchases required....:D:D:D

I am going to spend as little as possible for the rest of the month - it won't be easy as i have a three day trip to London ahead of me which I have to attend and its not cheap there regardless of what i try to do!! I will be as frugal as possible though...:A

I am starting fresh when i get paid at the end of the month...I really have to get myself sorted.....

    Hi Onecoincloser

I've joined since you were last on, so just wanted to say hello, and good luck, and all but the craziest of us fall off the pig sometimes, so don't let it get you down. Sometimes I find it helpful to work out why I fell off, and tackle that, rather than just resolve to try harder, which doesn't work well for me.

Cor! Pack up your greenhouse & move in with me, as long as you do the cooking :)

PS can I chuck in the odd bit of meat while your back is turned ;)

Good luck with budgets - onwards & downwards :j

  • hi everyone....and thank you for your support......don't worry gallygirl..i live in a house of omnivores so i'll let you sneak the occasional bit in when i am not looking!!!!:D

Well, its pay day tomorrow.....so back onto the pig big time and no more excuses - i am a bit apprehensive about falling off again but i am not going to let it scupper my chances anymore.....

and here comes the deep and meaningful bit.....

i have pretty much decided that one of the things that holds me back is a fear of failure.... so much so that i often let it prevent me from really trying _pale_

anyway,I've finally decided to get off this merry-go-round of self sabotage and am going to throw myself into this with a sense of self belief which will, over time, hopefully turn into a self-fullfilling prophecy ..... i have to give myself a proper chance this time, otherwise this will turn out to be a pretty pointless excercise....and i am not prepared to let that happen :D

Okay, deep and meaningful over.....:rotfl: i have a lot to do today, I have to get the house sorted, i have already cooked dinner - i have some boxes of sosmix in the cupboard so i have used that made up with onions, sage, mint and thyme, a tin of tomato soup and a dash of water and I have let it set then wrapped it in puff pastry - i am serving it with new potatoes and salad - once again, no expenditure and i am slowly clearing out my cupboards of things which have been sat around for ages so I am really pleased with that:dance::A

I am going to make this the last day of all that is holding me back and when i wake up tomorrow it will be with the knowledge that every day of the future for the next few years will be focused around feeding my mortgage pig and getting rid of everything which prevents me from living the life i want......spooky times ahead!!:D :rotfl:
