MFW signing in!! :D AGAIN!!! I was previously known as onecoinclosertoitaly but have forgotten my password and also the password to the email account I used :eek::o:o:o

So, had to return with a shortened name but not a shortened list of tasks!! I could cut and paste my other stuff but I'd rather not....suffice to say I have been off the grid due to total techno meltdown of all computers in my house!! So, this is now... new netbook purchased (was just testing it when I first posted so have come back and edited this!!) and renewed resolve to get to Italy by August 2018..... using this diary and forum to assist and inspire me!!

As you can see from the signature - mortgage 69k currently 8 months into a two year fixed rate deal and only able to op 10% or will icur penalties, so the remainder is going into a savings account to be paid off the capital when our fixed rate ends in 2012.

Basically, I want to have the mortgage paid off within five years, the following two years will be the rest of the debts gone and the remainder of the time will be saving enough cash to go to Italy for 6 months and to start major house renovations.

To do this, I have to pay off the mortgage with an OP of £795 a month:eek: it is a really big ask of everyone, we all need to change our habits, but if I don't do it I will be mortgage bound for another 14 years

It is an ambitious yet realistic target I think, although the house is going to work out expensive over the next 2-3 years which is when I am planning to have it sorted to a reasonable standard:o its mainly the garden which needs sorting, it is a nightmare:eek::eek::eek: in fact I have to take a gun with me for protection against potential elephants !!:rotfl: and my bedroom is also a disaster zone - new bed required for that plus decorating and the front room needs a new carpet and sofa!!! OMG!!!!

Just got to start...........:D Again!!!

Welcome back to the place where we work to make the impossible possible. It is ambitious, but if you have a diary it pushes you a lot to do it. That is what i have found.
  • Well done on getting back here :) Chamichelle's right, a diary's a great way of keeping your thoughts and a track of what you want to do in one place - Hope to see you posting regularly, and meeting your targets. • Right, I have looked at the budget, had a quick mooch through the cupboards and hijacked the kids for their 'rent'!!;) so thats £150 towards my monthly target....:j

I am having a good day, lots of things acheived really.....I have had a mooch in th garden and discovered that a rhubarb plant that my brother in law gave me last year is doing really well and I have also got the glass to replace the broken stuff in the greenhouse so will get some seeds planted next weekend...:T all helps save cash on the food bill :D

I am going to set really strict limits on the grocery shopping until I have used up everything I have in the house. I have masses of food in the house, just need to be creative and not buy things just to leave them sitting in a cupboard....:o also made up my mind to not throw any food out again....I do get really annoyed with myself not using everything up and the amount of food I throw out is criminal..

Tomorrow, I am going to start sorting the house as I have had company for the past couple of weeks so nothing has been done really and its starting to look really scary.......I am getting organised in every aspect of my life in an attempt to have little to interrupt my mfw mind.....:rotfl:

I'd like to know who thought of that one!
I bet no snail that went to Jerusalem was ever trying to get there - just having a snooze in a supermarket crate :D

  • Morning everyone!!!! :hello:
I have had a really busy weekend.....DH and I have spent all weekend working in the garden, we have moved several very large plants, fixed the greenhouse, planted tomatoes, cucumbers, beans and squash, cleared loads of rubbish and built a little frog park for those we displaced!!!

Today, I am going to clean the house as it is now full of garden... and then do an inventory of the food cupboards and freezer and plan the meals for the next few weeks. I have a quite a lot of a veg in the fridge so will make tagine and a ratatouille from them and yesterday I made a mango goo from a couple of overripe mangoes, a couple of apples which had seen better days and the juice of a couple of leathery satsumas, a lime and a lemon. I added a couple of spoons of soft brown sugar, a spoonful of cinnamon paste and cooked it until it went to gloop......;)......not quite sure what I am going to use it for.....possibly as a accompaniment to the tagine or maybe a base for a tart or something....... if all else fails, I will stick it into the freezer until I decide!!!:D

Had a good couple of days on the No Spend front......I am doing pretty well at the moment considering.....I did have to get a small bag of compost for my seed planting but other than that I haven't spent anything over the weekend......:D:dance: I am going to try to spend nothing on groceries for the rest of the week.....I have to go out on Saturday night but other than that I intend to be as incredibly good as I can be:A

    Anyhoo.....hope you all had a good weekend......:D

That is sooooooo true!! I cannot even think about how much money I have wasted on food over the past few years....its beyond depressing!!!:mad:

I am doing better now though, I pledged that I would not throw anything away and haven't done so since....:A fortunately, I have always been an adventurous cook and my family are used to having random meals!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Today, I am in bed ill _pale_....not at all nice, but starting to feel slightly better now :).....unfortunately, I started to feel rough after I had finished the cooking yesterday so didn't do any housework at all.... my house is such a mess...:o:shocked: I really do need to get it sorted but just feel too rubbish to do anything today :wall::doh:

...hhhmmmm, I definately must sign up to the flylady thread next week and start my journey to housework routines and organisation!!!.....:rotfl:

On the plus side, I found £1.43 in my car yesterday....:T:T:j okay, not a fortune, but as my name states, its all about those individual coins that get me to my dreams.......:D:D

  • Feeling better today..:jstill a bit wobbly but able to do things in short bursts.....:o so, I have cleaned the kitchen (two days worth of washing up due to illness ), hoovered the house, cleaned the bathroom, done three loads of washing and will shortly mop the floors and wipe the surfaces in the front room.....I will get to the point where I can do flylady :D:A

I am going to re-do my budget shortly...._pale_ got to admit, slightly concerned as have had a pretty harsh month - car tax, MOT, service and several unexpected social events which have seriously dented my usual 'spare' cash which I OP...:wall: Oh well, no point in dwelling on it, I will just make sure that I am in a better position by next payday!!! I am happy with my progress though, I am not too far off my overall target for this time of the year despite these glitches.....:T must keep up with the pledge to put at least one coin in the pot each day....preferably an unexpected one!!:D

  • Okay, finished all the housework, completed a budget revamp and also made the decision to stop smoking from tomorrow:eek::eek::eek:

I have tried more times than I care to remember....its not the giving up that I find most difficult...its the staying off it:o However, I know that I will not reach my goals without doing it....not looking forward to the next few days......_pale_

On the plus side, I have put tomorrows ciggie money to one side and will put it into the pot before I go to bed tomorrow night...:D I just have to think of how virtuous I will feel when i am struggling tomorrow!!! I have also found an additional 50p under the sofa....another coin closer!!!:A

  • Good luck on your journey, you seem very motivated so I'm sure you'll meet your target. Italy does sound lovely, I would get a travel mag from a travel agent and cut some photo's out of Italy. I should help you stay focused.
