    Another outdoors day here!

Walked the dog for a couple of hours then have been in the garden. Had a hebe and a tree heather that didn't make the winter so they were for the chop - was slightly more to them than I thought. Shredder wouldn't play ball so there is now a heap of branches and twigs at the top of the garden. Cleaned the garage door - supposed to white, was grey! but white again now. Planted some more seeds.

Cleaned the bathroom during a rain break but still got more HW to do.

Hope everyone has enjoyed their day, mothers or others :)

The 3rd loaf was terrible. The first 2 were mixed in the breadmaker and cooked in the oven after resting.
The 3rd was done all in the BMaker and was shocking. Didn't rise well and doughy.

So I have made it into a bread and butter pudding with added apple and cinnemon.

Still not got out for any exercise yet!!

    Never mind.

Elacla, I feel for your DS - I developed joint problems last summer and it isn't easy.
Sunshine Bear - I simply cannot make nice bread, so if you find a method that works please do share. I have a Kenwood because I can't knead by hand but it still isn't nice.

A mild day with lots done in the garden until about 3pm, and since then we have had the oddest mix, including heavy rain and hailstones. Back to sunshine now.

I need to knuckle down and get the ironing mountain done rather than end up doing a bit every night.

The River Cotttage book is great, I have been dipping into that and Tender all day. Very inspiring but we ended up having saute potatoes, leeks, and pork chops with cheese/mustard topping for dinner after salad for lunch. Nice, but not what I wanted after reading so much about food.

The pork casserole I made is sitting in the slow cooker - there should be at least 4 meals out of it. I've also made strawberry cupcakes and peanut butter brownies as a thank you to my ex-workmates for the lovely present they got me.

I went to lidl to get icing sugar and then popped into the JS next door. The same pack of icing sugar is over 20p dearer per kilo in JS and the same with the caster sugar I got!

Bargain bird, your dd is a smart little cookie being able to manage all that at her age.

I used to work in a bakery some years ago and most of it was done by guesswork. The mix that worked was along these lines

    1lb flour
    1ts salt
    2 ts dried yeast
    splash of oil
1 ts sugar (optional it speeds up rising time, not used today due to time availiable for rising)

I mixed it in breadmaker untill we needed to leave the house
Took it out and put it on floured surface with oiled clingfilm on top

When we got back (aprox 3 hours) I knocked it back an put it into 2 small bread tins
Let it double in size again (1/2 hour?)
oven at 220 for 22 mins
Put on rack and covered with tea towel

Lovely!! The secret is patience, let it rise, knock it back and let it rise again.

Hope everyone's had a good day.
Entertained my Mum and stepdad and the parents in law for lunch today so that we could do Mothering Sunday lunch for them. Had a rather nice leg of pork which I never usually buy because its too expensive when there's just four of us. Had it with new spuds, carrots, cabbage and yorkshires. Loads of gravy too. Mum bought pudding and MIL came armed with cakes!
My kids made me a card each, a paper flower and a pot with a viola in it. I had a £10 voucher for the local garden centre so got two lovely pots and some pansies and potted them up for my Mum and the MIL today. Tied them up with some nice ribbon. They looked lovely and totally free! Was a lovely day but DS poorly with temperature and now I feel a wee bit croaky. Hope its not going to develop.

    Evening ladies.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

It has alternated between sun and hissing it down today.

DH got up with the brood today and let me wallow in bed. They bought be an english breakfast and toast and coffee in bed. With 3 HM cards and a card with a recording of them saying "we love you Mummy, Happy Mothering Sunday." I also got 3 boxes of malteasers, 1 of ferrero rocho and 1 of hero's. So I won't be losing any weight soon :D

Because of brekkie, I missed church which was a shame but can't be helped.

Phoned Mum at her Nan's who she is visiting as she is not well and we liked the flowers that we had sent.

We then went to visit Mum at the cemetary and have a chat and leave her some flowers. Have to say we shed a few tears.

Then we went to the lottie and watered the plants. Everything is sprouting well at the moment, though for some reason we have lost the brussells.

DH then took me for dinner at a lovely little chinese restaurant. The brood were so well behaved and made me proud.

Then we went to a local beauty spot village that has a lovely village pond and choclate box houses and proper country pub. The kids loved feeding the ducks and we went for a stroll through the fields.

It rained on and off all day, sometimes we got wet, sometimes we were lucky. But we had fun.

Back home for tea and hot chocolate.

Made an easter bonnet with DC3, just putting the finishes touches now. I have super glue on 6 fingers and it is doing my head in.
