Hi everyone and Happy Mothering Sunday.
Hex, Mothering Sunday has a long and honourable tradition in Britain, but I do agree it has become too commercialised. It used to be that people who worked in service would go home to see their mothers on that day and I would much rather have a visit from my two than an expensive card etc. Ds came with his girlfriend last night to see me because he is working today. DD is in london and I will see her later in the week.
NPM, that's great news about the melatonin, fingers crossed that you can establish a good pattern with him.
Today I plan to make a pork and cider casserole from all the bits of pork I had lurking in the freezer. When I reorganised on Friday I made up a drawer of food that needs using in the next couple of weeks, I don't want to end up throwing away stuff like I have in the past.
Need to get a wiggle on but I'll pop in again later.0 -
Had to share what DD2 (4) wrote by herself in the card she made:

Metoffice forcast rain at 1pm and it's just started raining so they weren't far off.
Just about to pop down to my mums via Mcdonalds I cant be bothered making lunch and the house is still a tip.
I have made cupcakes and decorated one for my mum with sugar flowers and put it in a cake box (left of from DD's birthday party last year). I've re-used the gift bag the kids gave me my present in. My attempt at being frugal.
Kids toys have been sorted through (well the ones in the dinning area of the living room) I've bleached down the unit, hoovered and wiped down the wall.
The roast beef is in the slow cooker ready for dinner tonight and my wine is chilling in the fridge.Feb 2012 Grocery Challenge £200/£4.00

Afternoon all
Flat is now sparkling
I kinda let the cleaning slip whilst ill
so as I was tackling the clean laundry mountain, I just decided to it all - took 2 hours but I feel better for doing it. WM is on with throw from sofa so will need to put that out to dry later.
I still don't want to go food shopping but realised that I have a spend £40 get £4 off voucher which expires today so I'd be silly not to go. Gonna hop in shower, make some lunch then decide whether to go.

Dear BB I am sure you are nus to her all the time, everywhere not just at hum

Well, church was lovely this morning. Then we went shopping to get the fresh stuff for today. Got back in time to sit on the 2 younger DGSs. These have now been fed and watered.
We are now chilling, waiting for the next instalment. DD1, DSIL & DGS will be back around 4:30 and DD2 should be back around 4:45, so we will all eat together at about 5:00
Thank you. I think she thinks she is my daughter. She seems to think she is a teenager or in her early twenties (she's in her 90s!)oh that sounds so nice , its lovely she can still enjoy it
She is not really able to stand or walk, so looks up at people in a trusting way like a small child. But she can still smile and laugh and knows she loves, and is loved by, us:) Just isn't quite sure who we are!
Happy day all, we've got sunshine here but I've been lazy and not done a wash - but I did feed the hollow boys:)Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Back at work tomorrow to remind myself that I'm a man!0 -
Hope everyone is having a great day.
Had a lovely card from my DD and also a card from DGDs which they had made. Tears in eyes lol
DSD did a sponsored run today for Douglas McMillan hospice, on her way home she bought round a bunch of flowers and a lovely card she had made, it said if step mums were flowers she would have picked me. Cue tears in eyes again.
Nothing from DS, will prob get a text at 10 tonight saying he had forgot and hopes I had a nice day!
DSS2 is here at the moment doing something with the car with OH . His other son and GF are coming for tea, roast pork, broccoli, green beans, swede, sprouts, leeks in cheese sauce and mash. Aparently GF is bringing pudding.
Other OS wise, done usual WM & dw have had DDs wedding dress on the line trying to bleach out some of the stain, am taking it to local dry cleaners tomorrow where aparently 'Dawn' is an old hand at getting stains out of anything. Have decided the underneath is ok, I can cut and replace.
Am thinking I may declutter the drawers in our sideboard later, have noticed that its getting a bit of a squash to get stuff in....although why I am trying to put more junk in them I don't know.
I have this urge this time of the year to get rid of stuff and it makes me feel good when its done.
Enjoy the rest of the day xxxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Afternoon all!
Have had a mixed up busy mothers day, got up to 2 lovely cards, some beautiful tulips and a nice bottle of wine which is currently chilling!
Went to mum's with flowers and cards, then took her to her old aunties to sort out the shopping, went in to find a melted electric blanket and scorched mattress and bedding! Goodness knows where she got it, I have previously removed 2 from the house as she's 88, has dementia and the occasional wee accident! Sorted out that mess, did her shopping including a memory foam mattress topper, remade bed, hung washing on pulley, then dropped mum off and headed for MIL with her flowers!
Not been home long, OH had finished off the washing since there was no water when I left, and is treating us to a takeaway tonight!
Enjoy the rest of your day, hugs to all who want or need one!RIP Iain

Hope all the mums are having a good day
I tried to call my mum at 9 but no answer, assumed she was in bed, called back at 1pm to find she'd been doing overtime in a substation since 6am  I couldn't make it home and my sister had to work so she decided to work too!
OS today: stuffed lamb heart for dinner, vacuuming and "tidying"!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0
