The part of the SOGA that has been missed by most so far is the part that says the remedy must not cause "significant inconvenience", therefore, if a repair would mean that you had to take unpaid leave etc then that could be the above, and so Curry's would not be able to deny your request for a replacement :O)0

Cut from the retailer information part on consumer law form OFTyou{The retailer} (not the manufacturer or supplier) are legally obliged to resolve the matter with the customer at any time for up to six years from the date of purchase, or in Scotland for up to five years from the discovery of the problem.
Any refund, repair or replacement you arrange with your customer relating to faulty goods must not cause them too much inconvenience and you will have to pay for other costs, for example, collection or delivery.Truth always poses doubts & questions. If you bought a car, and the engine 'broke' under warranty, would you expect them to replace the whole car? I think not.
New motor = good as new.
If it broke within 5-6 weeks i would return the car as not fit for purpose so yes i would expect a whole car, i dont think my request is unreasonable within such a short period of time whatsoever, if it had been over a year then fair enough a repair would be great but to break so quickly i think is very poor0 -

And don't forget the inconvenience of not having a working dryer!!
Could you also share the make/model with us, please?
sure its this BEKO DCU8230 i wont buy a beko again thats a certainty!
we are only a family of three so its not like it gets excessive use either, will definitely push them tomorrow regarding the inconvenience and taking time off etc
Thanks0 -

If it was something like the starter motor that went wrong, I doubt if any dealer would be willing to give you a new car rather than replace one component of the engine.i wont buy a beko again thats a certainty
It would be impossible to make anything that would be guaranteed 100% reliable.im not prepared to have it repaired and potentially keep breaking again
I work as an aircraft engineer, and the parts that I fit are generally 20 to 30 times more expensive than an almost identical item that may be used on a car or other machine, and it's not unusual for some of these parts fail within days (sometimes on the first flight).
However inconvienient this may be, we just have to accept that it happens.0 -
"Broken tumble dryer after 7 weeks currys refusing to exchange"I bought a tumble dryer from Currys 12.02 and today it appears the motor has broke
Saturday 12th Feb to Saturday 2nd April is 49 days (or 7 weeks).
I wouldn't expect any retailer to exchange an easily repairable item after almost 2 months.0 -

In fact just ditch the machine and be a bit more MSE and just stick with the line.0
