ending Orange contract early?

Hi All,
I am new to the forums and I wanted to see if anyone knew of a way to end Orange mobile contracts early? I have been on Orange for 3 years and have recently upgraded my phone. I am on the Dolphin 25 websave tariff and just not happy with the service I am getting. I was promised free internet and have just realised I have been paying 5 GBP a month for this, when I spoke to their customer services they offered me 30 GBP back-which clearly doesn't cover the amount I have paid! I think other Orange users will also know about the network problems we are facing these days, I have to be connected on 2G and internet is very slow and most of the times I cannot even use my internet properly thus beating the purpose of having a smartphone. All these problems arised after I upgraded my phone and renewed my contract. I think it was the 19th of January that I got my upgrade if that makes a difference. I was wondering if anyone knew of any loop holes and how to get out of their contracts. I feel really cheated, considering the money I am paying I am clearly not getting my money's worth.
Many thanks in advance!

Theoretically, significant deterioration of connection in the same area can be a reason for demanding cancellation. However, I think your chances in practice are very slim.
Also, there are some inconsistencies in your post. 19th of Jan was 2 months ago.
£30/2=£15 >> £50 -
Transitional period, Orange is merging its network with MBNL as it owns 50% of it through the T-Mobile merger, 2G and 3G sites are being decommissioned and remaining sites rolled into MBNL and thats when 3G roaming between T-Mobile & Orange completes, superior T-Mobile 3G is coming Q1 of 2011 so its not far off and dates are meant to be this month.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

I hope you're right diamonds as the Orange 3G site covering my area is oversubscribed and it would be the one thing that saves my sanity until I can ditch this abysmal disgusting farce of a company in November.
Orange is not the same company I subscribed to in the late 90's and early naughties. Three, for all the complaints people have, was never as bad as Orange is now in the 6 years I was with 3.0 -
Hammy if you have wifi ask Orange for a UMA handset - a blackberry or a android which will connect to Orange network via the internet...it will help where you can access wifi but if the signal is bad everywhere local that might not be of any use. Android you download an app called Kineto Smart Wi-fi if its not pre-installed on a Orange branded handset, Blackberry UMA is built into the operating system & can be forced on ANY Blackberry as long as the handset is UMA capable, which in last few years most are.
The technology is UMA but Orange market it as SignalBoost.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

indeed.....Once was the innovative mobile brand but Hutchison sold Orange off the whole european Orange brand to fund its 7 3G licences it bought in the early *noughties*
When Voda was forced to sell O, it became as a cash cow to France Telecom - the Orange purchase nearly sent France Telecom to the wall.
Now it really is the frenchies cash cow ! All the innovation is in France & the brits get the scrapings and second hand Livebox's even when FT know they are a piece of poo. Orange France/UMA has its own Orange Wifi like BT Openzone & pay as you go Orange in france you get all calls over UMA at half price. Digital HD tv....you name it Orange France get it, here....nothing, lack of innovation or implementation of such services & products.
Oh and Orange France calls never get routed to India !!! Orange will be the death of itself in the UK, the T-Mobile merger is just delaying such ! Will the T-Mobile owner German government or national incumbent France Telecom buy who out of Everything Everywhere ?.....
Time will tell....lets face it both have done nothing for the UK market since purchase, Hong Kong owner of 3 Hutchison re-shook and still re-shakes this UK market...ironic the innovation Hutchison make over Orange....really !SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I completely agree with this. I've been with Orange since 1998 and they have progressively got worse, hence why I am ditching them in November!
I am pretty sure there is a "cooling off" period for mobile phone networks but I am not sure how long this is so it might be worth giving them a ring and finding out.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
I've been with Orange for just over 5 years and have had my fair share of complaints. But I find that, if when you're nearing the end of your contract you call through and threaten to leave, they often offer you a pretty darn good deal. I am currently paying only £10.00 per month and get over 500 mins any time any network, unlimited landline calls and texts, as well as 500MB free internet access. Can't complain!
Also as another poster wrote, they are upgrading their infrastructure hence the intermittent 3G and broadband service.
Just worth a thought come November if you're still considering moving on.0 -
Orange know the network isnt upto scratch, they're spending hundreds of millions upgrading it, things will improve but it takes time0

REALLY? I pay £30 a month for 600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited landlines and 500MB internet access. How did you get it for £10!0 -
