Right, OK.That's better! Your line stats look good. Your router has synced with the exchange at 7,616kbps, so if you are only getting 2,750kbps when doing a speedtest, something is wrong!
No. Apart from my fiancee's ipod touch, which she wasnt using, this is the only computer in the house. Was anyone else using the broadband when you did your speedtest?
To be honest with you sometimes its a fraction more, sometimes it's less but it fluctuates around that mark, yes. Its mainly evenings and weekends it gets used.Do you always get about 2,750kbps?What result do you get when connected to the router using Ethernet? This would eliminate a wireless problem.
It is totally impractical to use ethernet, as the lead i have isnt lpng enough. I suspect it will be higher though, as i used to use ethernet in the flat over the road, which is hooked up to the same exchange and it was a lot faster.0 -
Good stats indeed, never seen a line attenuation of 3db, wonder if its being reported correctly?
I'm assuming you are paying for an 8Mbps service.
Can you see the exchange out of your window?:DThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
The point of this is to hook up a temporary ethernet connection to rerun the speedtest from. If the results are similar, then you have eliminated any wireless issues. If there is an improvement then you know the cause is purely wireless and not any fault of your ISP. It's a basic fault finding process by which you eliminate each possible cause in turn.clivejohnson wrote: »Right, OK.

Just move the PC temporarily nearer to the router to do the test. Also make sure that your router is connected to the BT test socket behind the master socket split faceplate, this will isolate any faults on your internal wiring. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Maybe after trying Ethernet, a scan with inSSIDer would be worth a try.............off to cook up a Chilli, with North Staffs Oatcakes yum. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Slightly off-topic, but how do N. Staffs Oatcakes vary from standard ones?No free lunch, and no free laptop

They are more like a pancake, you can fill them with anything you like and roll them up, I like Povey's myself, here is a link.

I have no idea!:-)Good stats indeed, never seen a line attenuation of 3db, wonder if its being reported correctly?
Yes, The MAX package.I'm assuming you are paying for an 8Mbps service.
No, although is is literally yards away-2 mins walk. Can you see the exchange out of your window?:D0 -
Thanks for that. I will indeed give it a try, once I have cleared out the cupboard to get at the master socket!!:-)))The point of this is to hook up a temporary ethernet connection to rerun the speedtest from. reight,,
I've just done a speedtest using an ethernet cable, and they were pretty much the same as yesterday's results, only i got 2.74mpbs donload speed, and 38mpbs upload with a ping of 41.
connection speed sis still the same at 54mpbs
so it would point to an ISP problem??0
