  • been on phone to them today as just received my letter saying that from january the total price you pay to bskyb publications for the 3 magazines is 4.25 however the subscription will be discounted to cover this.i rang up and was told by two people that the magazines are free so i asked for them to be stopped and to receive the discount from my bill.i then had the phone put down on me.i rang them back and was told i couldnt speak to an supervisor and i needed to just write in.so have now contacted watchdog as it doesnt sound exactly right or honest.they then rang back as are interested but need more people to contact

Just done exactly that. I wouldn't care but they are sending it to my old address - when my mail redirect runs out at the end of the month I will be paying for something I won't even get!!!

I to rang and asked for the magazine to be stopped, they did that without issue until I asked them to confirm what the subscription price would be in January. When they said £21 and I said it should be reduced by 1.75 they had to check with their manager. It then appears that the price you pay wont change, the letter is misleading and the only way I can think about it is when you pay by credit card at the tills you see a percentage of your bill will be taken by the finance part of the company that processes your payment even if the company is the same as the one you made the purchase from. The end price you pay is the same but for some reason you need to be made aware of this.

It must be a tax ..... or something, anyway if you cancel and dont get a deduction then I would ask sky to keep sending you it any way then at least it is costing them something instead of making 1.75 more out of you.

    Any updates on this issue?

Did Sky reduce packages by £1.75 per month?

    Thanks.

    i think this is outrageous!!!!

i pay £36 for 2 magazines (standard sky mag + sky sports mag) that i

don't want and have never asked for!!!

they're complete trash and full of ads and leaflets (when you open one and shake it to see what falls out!!! )

surely there should be at least an opt out, surely they shouldn't be allowed to do this??? i could see how they could if it was just part of the overall package but the fact they actually provide a breakdown of what each mag costs then surely we should be able to say we don't require it:mad:

anyone know the legal stance on this?

i think we should really kick up a fuss about this (as some have done with watchdog) because this is out of order!!!

how many people actually realise they're paying for these mags, and once they knew how many would want them......not many i suggest!!!!!

You know, way back whenthe letters came out informing us that the leaflets cost £1.75 I phoned sky. I explained that I didn't want to pay for the mag and would stop getting it if they charged. Now I get the magazine and pay £34 a month still. I don't understand the £2 price hike madnis 7
2p or not 2p? That is the question!

    Example
    Sky subscription with Magazine:

    £30 Subs
    £1.75 Magazine
    £1.75- Discount
    £30 Total

    Sky subscription without Magazine:
    £30 Subs
    Total £30

The magazine has been bin fodder for many years, when we had a Sky subscription and they change the magazine to the useless piece of rubbish it is, we cancelled the magazine. We're meant to live in a digital age, there is no need for this heap of junk.

Dropped Sky subs last year, as they wanted to charge us the full price, even though we'd been with them from day one.

Sky state that surveys they have done show customers like the magazine, yet I don't know a single person who thinks it's any good, whilst a couple have a quick flick through it, the rest bin it (or shred it) straight away.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
