Oh bother, I thought you'd bought the big ticket items for DD - ah well, at least it takes care of the worry of another growth spurt, you're right.
And as for your staycation - almost anyone who lives in the south east of England has a *fantastic* amount of stuff on their doorstep, its wonderful. Especially if you have a car to get to a few of the tricky ones - I remember having to turn down a mystery shop at a National Trust place because when I investigated the bus routes, nothing went there at all on a weekendyou'll have a roaring old time - and then, ta-da, Escape From Reality, yay!

Lulaaaa! We missed you :j
Whatever do you mean you can't sleep in the quiet? I LOVE being somewhere away from road noise etc, I find I get to sleep much easier.
Glad Eden was fun. I had a sudden brainwave about taking a group of friends so am hoping to have our regular meet-up there next spring.
Cornwall sounds fab - I've never been, and will be in need of a break in a couple of months, so will be looking up your recommendations.

It was lovely to read your brilliant descriptions of your holiday - I'm glad you enjoyed it (apart from the one day, which we won't mention)."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Evening lovelies,
I've even astonished myself when totting up today's damage - terrifying.
Last night I reserved myself a cordless hedgetrimmer as the garden has gone wild & I just can't face asking Dad to borrow his again, knowing full well that I'll just slice through the cord again & cause him a lot of worry.
The store would only keep it for today so I took the decisions to get all the spending done in one day.
Having first bought my new railcard at the discounted price of £14 on the CC (cashback) we then set off to the school uniform shop first to get that out of the way. We got a blazer, skirt, polo top & hoodie & ordered a cardi ( out of stock). I produced my CC ( cashback) to pay & was told that the machine wasn't working so it had to be cash or cheque
.
I never carry my cheque book with me & only had about £50 cash on me so we had to drive home & collect cashcard & cheque book in case cash machine wasn't working. It was, so I withdrew £80 & whizzed back to pay £77.95 & collect the uniform. DD was very excited.
Next stop was the store to collect hedgetrimmer so that was £34.99 on the CC ( cashback) & £1 cash to the dementia charity collector outside the store then continued on to M&S to see if we could find black shorts & trackie pants for PE & school trousers.
Before entering the store we found a lovely man offering to wash cars & as I seem to have insect corpses from the 5 counties we travelled through on the windscreen & the front of the car & the rest is covered in a crusty mix of Cornish sea, sand & mud & I really hate cleaning my car almost as much as I hate it being dirty ... £10 for a thorough scrubbing & polish seemed a good deal.
We eventually found all DDs items & they mainly fit well although the trousers have a bit of room at the waist. I couldn't understand why the shorts cost the same as the trackie pants when clearly half the amount of fabric is involved but DD was adamant I shouldn't question itso that was another £31 for uniform & I really would love to say that was all I spent in there but I happened across a pair of sunglasses that fit perfectly & don't make me look like a fly, & this hot weather made me long for nice cool cotton undies & at the till they had a random sale of purple tights ... so, all included it was another £36 . I did get a £5 off a £25 spend voucher for childrens wear ( not uniform though)
Came home & had lunch & failed to gain internet access ( Grrrrrr to Uncle Richard) then got on with the small amount of home-job work.
Had just finished when a woman from Uncle Richard's crew called offering me some great savings. She asked how I liked my tv service & I replied that I had far too many channels & would like to slash them & the cost.
This apparently went right over her head ( not on the script) & she proceeded to tell me that she could offer me an extra 165 channels ( !!!!!! ?!) at half price for 3 months. She assured me that if I didn't want to keep them after 3 months then it was fine & I could retain my current service. I questioned how much it would cost if I did keep the extra 165 channels of putrid brain rotting gawpism & she was a bit unwilling to answer & kept on about the savings.
Having been told that the call was being recorded I got a bit shirty myself & said I just wanted her to answer my query which was how much. She eventually admitted that I would be paying £45 a month rather than the £41 I pay now, at which point I pointed out that this was in fact a price increase & hardly the 'savings' she had initially told me about & that I was about as interested in taking her up on her offer as I am in sleeping with Bernie Ecclestone. Not very.
Ah, that reminds me - when in M&S I was approached by energy salesman offering to price fix for me. Said I wasn't interested in switching supplier as quite happy with current one & he then revealed that's the one he actually works for & as an existing customer he could still sort out the price fixing until September 2013 & I'd earn £20 M&S vouchers - never one to refuse a decent freebie & assured that my payment method & all account details remain the same; and that I'll also get another £10 voucher each year for loyalty & another £30 if I can reduce my energy bills by 10 % ...
I was all over it like a cheap coat & will now perform regular appliance standby patrols & random spot checks too
I'd certainly recommend further investigation via M&S stores or Southern Electric website.
I'd just finished organizing to take DD & a friend skating on Thursday, when lovely childminder texted asking if we wanted to go along on a picnic with her & other friend & kids tomorrow. Thought how annoying that I hadn't fuelled up when near Tatco earlier & I do have to do home-job tomorrow, but DD will enjoy seeing friends & I rarely get to see lovely childminder & other grown ups as always dropping off or picking up on the work run so I said we'd love to go & dragged DD back out to fuel up. Shiny clean car now has another £45.36p worth of juice in it - 3rd fill up in just 10 days .
Had to stop off at Co op on way home to get some picnic stuff & spent £10.50p cash
DD1 came round to collect the clothes she'd cunningly left in my laundry basket but brought some of her old stuff for little DD & also a bag of stuff for me to recycle/charitize. I managed to offload some of my stuff on to her & I now have nice full bag for the charity collection bag that arrived today.
Finally added up all the day's spends & it turns out I've gone through £260.30p today .
Of that, £160.85p was on the CC so will need to pay that off next week. At least I now only have to get school shoes, trainers, bag & pencil case equipment.
I need to pay for car parking tomorrow (£6 apparently) & then skate hire & food for girls on Thursday & only have £27.50p left in my purse & not much more than that in the bank.
It would all be rather less annoying if only I would remember the £15 CREDIT I have on the old Uncle Richard CC - that would have paid for the railcard & still left me £1 in credit .
Will have to find something to buy :rotfl:
Need some sleep, all this spending is thrilling but exhausting & I've charged my hedgetrimmer but not had time to use it yet.
G'night
xx

My word, what a day! But a fun one today, from the sound of it. Good for you for pushing on the satellite channel thing - I hate it when they say "this price for 3 months", as if we ignore what happens after 3 months.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
