    No really, I do :rotfl:

It has been a part of my sunday night routine for so long that it feels a bit odd not doing it. I'm sure Uncle Richard wouldnt mind if I did & it wouldnt be the first time I made a payment to a CC that I've already cleared ...

I've managed to overcome the urge now & will instead sate my desire with a juicy little cheque for piano lessons & watching the lovefilm & mobile direct debits march out of my account instead.

I still havent ugraded the phone yet. I really just want the newer version of my phone but ... keep getting tempted by i-phone & for 2 very silly reasons.

    1) I can then synch it with laptop which should make transferring stuff a lot easier & save me from wanting to hurl things at the wall when I cant make it work  & most importantly ...

    2) Grumpy plays scrabble with his mates on his & I want to play too :o. I really, really want to play scrabble. Granted I probably wont win because our set at home has wooden letter tiles & as I've had it since I was 10 & I know the grain on every single tile so effectively, I can actually choose my letters but :shhh: that's just our little secret & they use all sorts of made up words & that is one thing I'm very good at so I have a fair chance.

I'm still not used to being DF & I have to keep reminding myself. I'm used to totting up all the accounts & then deducting what I still owe & now I'm getting a credit figure & it feels weird.

Thanks to a kind individual on the ISAs board who posted a link to the exact form :T I have completed the rate upgrade request & it took about 5 seconds.

DD was unwell last night so I think her reluctance to flee the country with a crazy lady & a cat in a camper van may have been due to that. Even bathing baby elephants & being surrogate mother to orang utans didnt tempt her this morning. She just wanted to know how much it costs to go to uni & how long you have study law for. I dont think she's mine, although when I reckoned out loud that a law degree would set her back 7 years & about £60,000 I could see her thinking that being a wandering hippie had a certain appeal. Just as I was about to start packing her flip flops, she declared that being a police officer was probably the best way forward :wall:

Realising that my way forward was another day of domestic goddessing, I finished off the laundry, washed the floors, made some hobnobs, a couple of family phone calls, sent emails & then we did the rellie visiting.

Being up at this time of night & knowing I dont have to get up for w*rk tomorrow is great. Enjoyment of even simple pleasures like that is wonderful.

    I'm away for a wander now, g'night

    xx

    PS -

Hi Bob - maybe we can find a bogof camper van deal & split the cost :D

Thanks for taking care of Gordon - I've neglected him somewhat recently.

I'm looking after him right now, funnily enough. Hmm this is starting to sound a bit weird. We're talking about gin, everyone!

This was my argument when trying to convince DD that we should just sell everything, buy a camper van & go travelling now. She didnt believe that that's pretty much all we'd need. Her main concerns were music, tv, films & contact with friends - all covered by laptop, ipod & mobile. Books were her next concern so I even offered up a kindle & whatever she wanted to download on to it. She's not budging, the girl wants to go to school

Yeah I think kids with a crazy parent often 'rebel' by being sensible ;) I agree though, these days all entertainment needs () are covered by laptop, mobile, Kindle (forgot that in my last post) and maybe an iPod although I use Spotify on my laptop for music (although the free version is ending soon :(). Living with minimal possessions isn't for everyone, obviously, and it depends what stage of your life you're at, but I don't feel that my freedom or happiness are enhanced by 'stuff' beyond what I genuinely need. Quite the opposite, in fact.

    Right, mustn't neglect Gordon :)

I think you could do both of those things with an Android phone, and I think they're quite a lot cheaper than an iPhone?

Yes we have joint custody of a commuting gnome. Or at least that's what we both believe, if we've had enough gin.

I was only informed of the anti-malaria qualities of quinine on Saturday night, when discussing its use as a treatment for nocturnal leg cramps. I must admit I do find that all my ailments seem less troublesome after a g&t :)

"Smartphones" that use Google's Android operating system. Basically, they do what an iPhone does, but are cheaper, and the "apps" are normally free to download rather than whatever Apple charges for iPhone apps. I've got an HTC Hero which is a bit outdated now - I think the current equivalent is the HTC Desire.

I was thinking of moving back to PAYG but I'm not sure how that works with this type of phone as the apps use quite a lot of internet data. On my contract, that's included, but I'm not sure about PAYG.

I know - I got back from Cardiff at midnight and then had to load the car, so (despite being half-asleep while driving) am now wide awake. You're right though, it is bedtime. Goodnight!

Thanks for android info, very succintly put.

I'm not really an i-phone fan & have played on the HTC Desire which is excellent, but having checked out the vodafone site it seems that I can only get one on contract for the same plan I'm on now but for twice the price , whereas a newer version of my phone for double the plan ( texts & minutes) will only be another £5 a month. It's another 24 month contract though. More deliberating required, although free apps is quite tempting .

I grew up in Africa & having perfected the art of pretending to take daily doses of disgusting giant flavoquine tablet ( then spitting them out) I soon realised the only palatable way to combat malaria was ingesting large quantities of G&T :D

    Goodnight Zzzzzzz

    Hello stranger,

thanks for popping in - I know your on-line time is limited so I really appreciate it :D.

I cant be doing with dull :(, I want ramped-up-to-fever-pitch excitement :j & having read some of the profiles & names of the psychos & swingers ... it does rather read like a Boden & BMW Appreciation Club :rotfl:

Anway, right now I'm far too busy trying to work out whether to get the trains/buses/tubes or drive to Shepherds Bush tomorrow night ...

    Driving Pros :

-I dont have to mingle with the great unwashed
-I come & go in my own time ( ish - it's peak hour traffic time :()
-It's probably cheaper than 2 x train tickets
-It's door to door ish - can park at Westfield apparently

    Train Pros :

    - I'm not responsible for getting us there or protecting us all from other idiots on the road, finding parking etc...
-I'm not using any fuel ( it's a 50odd miles round trip & I already have cash to buy tickets)
    -I can just relax & people watch & have a drink :D

Aaaaaaggggghhhh - I'm only being like this because we're not going on our own so kind of feel that I'm not controlling anything, and yet I dont want to be in charge either. I dont know DDs friends mother very well so have no idea if she can navigate while I drive ...

Anyway, wont think about that anymore because I have a shiny new pin to go with my shiny new card & I've already been to the cashpoint to change the pin to one of my own choosing & check the balance - I like
    :D

My ebay win arrived today & it's fab - a great little bag in a gorgeous colour - I like :D

My 3rd NSD in a row & I posted the cheque for piano lessons - I dont like :(

I got all my ironing done by 11.30 & then had a text from home-job boss to ask if I could do some today, I dont like  but it kept me from worrying about tomorrow & spending on the new CC & when the driver turned up it was so so worth it ...

She's dyed her hair in what I assume is an attempt to echo Rhiannas red 'do' but this is a fiery glaring orange colour  seriously, think orange post-its but with an accompanying brassy sulphur street light glow - hilarious :rotfl: What with that, the donald duck style filled lips & the zeppelin fake boobs, the poor woman is clearly having something of a midlife crisis that is somewhat alarming to those that encounter it.

Right, I'm all b!tched out now :o so will finish off with the excellent news that Quidco have paid another £7.73 towards the laptop fund & the even more excellent news that I've realised that the next half term in May includes the bank holiday so I'll only have to work a 3 day week & therefore only have to pay for childminding for 3 days :j

I'm off to scour Quidco for new cooker deals & must get an early night tonight as was up until gone 3 this morning & probably look like an old hag. Need to sharpen those cougar claws for tomorrow night ;)

Re. Android I have a Samsung Galaxy S and I love it :)

(I refused to buy an iphone on principle, not sure exactly which principle except the generally being contrary one.)

Don't forget to check Quidco for new contract deals, it's saved me £90 on mine.
