just letting off steam. ordered a new skoda in september, its on order form march delivery.
dealer not good at keeping in touch, when we do manage to contact them they tell us theres no build date.
just rang skoda uk, have been told build week is possibly the end of may but not definite!!! we are looking at a june delivery now at the earliest,
never again will i order a car from skoda.

yes could cancel but got a good deal[if we ever get the car]keep getting different excuses off skoda,unexpected demand for cars! parts for engine not available. got a 20%vat free deal. seems everyone who has ordered diesel cars off them are having the same problem

Sounds like the deal was that good that they can't keep up with demand.

Very frustrating - but if you want the deal then you'll just have to wait your turn :rotfl:

yes will have to wait but was just venting.its a lottery with who gets cars and when, some ordered after have got before others, lesson learnt on my behalf, i will never order off them again

All VAG cars (VW, Audis and Skodas) can have very lengthy waiting times - I waited 12 weeks for both my Audis.

There are many excuses given:

They all share common components so if there is a demand on a particular part it can hold up production - in my case it was gearboxes, in your case it's a particular engine.

They switch LHD and RHD production depending on exchange rates.

They have strict quotas for importing cars to the UK. If the UK has had its quota you have to wait.

Wasn't a diesel was it? All off the VAG group is having problems getting enought diesels built, so people who are ordering petrol engines are getting their cars faster.

I think it is bad customer service that the dealer isn't keeping you informed though.

yes its a diesel. they have mentioned bosch electrical parts needed for holding it up.amongst other things,i know i am not the only one having probs but from what i can find out i am one of the unlucky ones waiting this long, some who ordered nov for same model/spec as mine had theirs delivered jan/feb

Unless there's another offer presumably.

You could cancel your order, go to another garage and buy a different car. Instead you are choosing to continue your current order. Your principles aren't that strong then!

the car we want has now gone up in price by over £3000, who mentioned principles? i said i wouldnt order a skoda AGAIN! and if i had known in september what i know now, i wouldnt have ordered. but after waiting 6 month for the deal i have got i have no choice but to wait or pay thousands more for another make/model

Hyundai have wait lists for their new ix35 4x4 running to about November 2011 due to lack of engines (ie, they've sold more cars than they can produce engines).

Skoda Yeti's are something like 6-7 month waiting list and as others have stated, VAG always never have enough components to build a complete car.
