New Contract
Got a good deal with Orange on the LG Optimus 7, 800 cross-network minutes, 500 mb data unlimited landline, 300 texts all for £22.
My previous contract was £29 per month, although saving money is good in 2 years it works out to be nearly £500 way to much.
Plan to send the phone back within the 7 days cancel the contract and lets see what offer they can come up call their bluff!!!
Any views,
Garcon6

You asked for views, possibly hoping MSE member will think "What a clever chap!!".
People like you add to the overheads of companies and that, in turn, adds to the charges they make other users.
They now have a 2nd hand (or refurbished ) phone that no one else wants re-issued as a new one.
Talk about tipping them off - Hopefully the Orange CS will be keeping an eye on this and maybe one of them will be the one that catches you out.
Don't get me wrong - I am all for hard bargaining and negotiating before making a deal, but I do not approve of what you are planning to do as this is just mucking people about.0 -
If you didn't want the contract at £29 per month you shouldn't have taken it in the first place.
Hopefully Orange will call your bluff instead, and offer you the square root of nothing.0 -
I couldn't agree more; though I have little sympathy generally for the dealers or networks this is simply dishonest in every possible way and could have a knock-on effect in it's own way to honest buyers. Good luck to Orange and hopefully it will mean you've wasted your time.0

They'll offer you nothing, they'll take the phone back and that'll be that, I'm not really sure what your masterplan is. As for the handset, they now can't sell it as new, instead it'll either be sent back to LG, or it'll be put into a replacement loop, where it'll be sent out as a replacement for someone elses broken LG0

I know- they be really persistant, and even be willing to drop the price down or offer you additional extras. Haha, have fun trying!0 -
Thankyou for your opinions unfortunately I will not be giving orange nearly £500 in two years for just having a mobile phone.
Will keep you updated on my progress.

Hi Garcon6,
When you return the phones it will be done via Channel Returns. You will not have the opportunity to renegotiate as the offer presented to you will have been the best that could have been offered. As other posters have advised had you been unhappy with the deal discussed you should have declined at the time.
Hope this has clarified a few points.

and there goes garcon6`s great masterplan:rotfl::DTake every day as it comes!!0 -
Progress regarding my contract is that I did manage to renegotiate a new offer which i was very pleased with and I got a much better phone HTC Wildfire, 400 cross-network minutes, 300 texts. I didn't need all those minutes before and the phone was free £16 per-month (24 month contract). I admit I did rush into the £25 deal but I didn't realise the total cost until later.
For the people who commented take a look at Martin Lewis comments about getting a better deal, because when you get through to retentions they just don't want to let you go their job is to keep you at whatever cost.
