permanant pen of a glass surface?

Hi all,

Did a daft thing and accidentally wrote on my glass notice board with red permanant marker. Any ideas on how to get off please? Otherwise I shall have the same shopping list there forever!! :D

Thanks in advance

  • Have you tried nail polish remover? It worked for us when we had to get permanent marker from glazed bathroom tiles, easy peasy!
  • If it's definitely glass you can try just about anything as (1) it's difficult for stuff to really stick to it, & (2) the majority of products won't damage it. I'd suggest methylated spirits as possibly the quickest.

There are a couple of ideas in this thread:-

    - Permanent marker

I know it's about clothes but it mentions notice boards too.

  • any commerical solvents should do.... my favorite: acetone but if you don't have any i would try the juice that comes out of citrus fruit peel... will make your notice board smell lovely and christmassy too....
  • petrol will get it off too, just pop some on a cloth and wipe. Job done!

yes as a scientist we use markers to label glass wear, acetone (nailvarnish remover contains it) is v effective, and just use a bit of kitchen roll with it on. petrol will work too, another thing is anything with a high alcohol content, maybe vodka?! havent tried it but i know various alcohols make it come off so maybe worth a shot if u have that and not the others too hand.

    Wash your mouth out.

Vodka is a recreational drink. Never a cleaning product. :D

 unless you can suck the cloth afterwards.
