This made me laugh redglass. The Sun's about his limit :rotfl:
I've still got £12 in my purse during mean May but I did cheat and bought petrol and 6 first class stamps on my debit card= £22.76 cos I went 2p over £20 at the pump. I wish they'd design a pump whereby you could tap in the amount you want to spend and it just dispenses that amount, I always go 1p or so over because pumps can need quite a bit of pressure sometimes.

I've been reading some of the nasty, and totally unnecessary flaming that newbies have received on various other threads, and just can't understand why some people think that if they've made a few dozen posts, or even a few thousand, that it gives them a divine right to be judgmental, rude, dismissive and blo*dy 'orrible!
If there are any lurkers out there, wondering if they dare dip a toe in the water here, can I assure them that everyone is really helpful, nobody judges anyone for spending anything, or not saving as much as they did, and we're all very nice! :A
xx
Sandra, I couldn't agree more - I've popped into a couple of other boards but now tend to stick to this one, DFW and Pets (although that can get a bit heated sometimes).
I too don't understand why people seem to like winding others up and causing arguments - there's more to life!
Welcome to LJC
Thanks for the good wishes - the MRI was this morning and am VERY glad it's over. I did have a wee panic the 1st time I was put in as opened my eyes and I was stuck in the middle. The staff were lovely and said they'd move me up a bit - the end of the machine was open and I eventually ended up with the top of my head sticking out which was ok(ish) as if I opened my eyes I could at least see around me. Still, it had to be done (and hope I don't ever need another) and hopefully I'll now find out what's wrong with me!
It's funny as been sleeping like a log but as I knew I had to be up this morning I woke up at 4am bright as a button, eventually fell asleep again and was jolted awake by the alarm - I felt 3 pairs of eyes glaring at me as both cats & the dog were obviously still in the land of nod too!
Unfortunately, I've not had a frugal day, I had a trawl around Cameron Toll (ages since I've been) when I came out the hosp as was a bit wobbly and bought 2 tops:eek::eek: - they were both reduced so £13 & £18 and will do for both work & pleasure (and are the 1st clothes I've bought this year) so not feeling too bad about that.
Stopped at P*ets @ H*ome while up in town to stock up on cat litter (2 bags for £16 compared to £14 each at pet shop).
Then visited Mr L*idl - again ages since I've been there so stocked up on a few bits that I like from there - another £25.
Next was the petrol station - every time I go (usually around 10 days) it's gone up another penny, was 135.9 today - horrendous.
So, a very spendy day but it seemed sensible to stock up on cat litter etc while I was up in town rather than spending the £8 on fuel at another point.

Used the park & ride to go to the hosp this morning & the bus ticket there & back both have a voucher for £6 off entry to E*dinburgh Dungeons.
They're valid until 31 March 2012 so may come in use during the summer hols (or if anyone's going on hols there).
Happy to post if they'd be of use to anyone?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hello fellow frugallers:j
Welcome LJC79.
Started my Mean May with a whoopsie walk around Mr S- found some reduced baking potatoes for 35p which I intend to serve with mayo and shredded crab sticks. The small person has just started to eat potato having had lots on Scout camp recently. Another one to add to the frugal menu.

Just had to put petrol in my car this afternoon - I only keep about 1/2 a tank in it now as I don't do a lot of mileage - Then I remembered I had a voucher from Mr M for 6p off a litre that I hadn't used & it was still in date - RESULT!!! I'm really afraid to do my SoW 'cos we seemed to spend quite a lot while we were away. Maybe I'll bite the bullet tonight after a glass of something for dutch courageSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Hello LJC79, amd everyone else.
Sandra I couldn't agree with you more. I've been in some boards and they are terrible. They must be unhappy people I suspect and it's making them cranky lol.
My DS1 went to Beavers for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it, he's being assessed for ASD but he wanted to go and afterwards he said it was about time he started making friends. I felt really proud of him, he's just turned 7 a few weeks ago. The only problem is that my DS2 wants to go but he's only 5 so too young atm.
Whilst DS1 was at Beavers I went to Lids and spent £13 odd - on my debit card to buy salad stuff and rubbish- again! No more, this has to stop. Oh well maybe tomorrow eh?
Apart from this, I lost a bet in work today and had to buy carrot cake muffins for my colleague (and myself of course) so my £12 is now 82p down so I've £11.18 left. Serves me right for being cynical.
Enjoy your evening xx
Edit - forgot to tell you that in Morries on Monday they had value curry sauce for 5p a jar, I expect it's still that price, anyone know please? I think it's lovelyKarma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
nsd today :-) tomorrow is a day off as school is a polling station so I'm taking sprog out to the science museum (we have a membership so that is sort of free) and then we are going to spash out and get some nice food in a restaurant near the waterfront. The place I'm thinking of do a £6 lunchtime special and kids meals are a fiver so with a drink for me it should be around £15, we deserve a treat though!0
