.....Setting up a Gmail account takes 5 minutes. Notifying your contacts takes via a group email takes maybe another 15 minutes. It's neither stressful nor daunting.....

I must admit I'm the same as bertietrouble in that the inconvenience has also put me off moving. It's not at all like me as I'm constantly moving various different accounts to get the best deal.

I realise it's simple to do a bulk group email but there are all the secure sites such as different banks etc etc which would have to be informed individually.

I've got a blueyonder email account which I use for almost everything. Befiore leaving Virgin is there anyway I can set it up so that any emails coming in would be automatically transfered to my gmail account ?

Gmail can be set to 'fetch' mail from other accounts, it works fine for me.

When we left BT a couple of years ago we ended up paying about £1 a month to keep the BT Email address. After a year we changed to Gmail which is free and we can keep it whenever we change ISP again.

I'm paying £1.50 a month for my btinternet.com email address. Had it over 12 years and don't want to change so I don't mind. I last had BT Broadband around 8 years ago.

i am soon to leave virgin because i am moving home. there is no cable in the new place.
will i lose my blueyonder email address straight away, or will it stay open a while?
    thanks

I have just left virgin.net for TalkTalk and have been told by Virgin CS I can keep email for 18 months, so I would guess same applies. However, I'm not too trusting of such advice so am gradually changing to yahoo mail so won't have this hassle ever again.

I know, but I want to keep the email address, and it's only £1.50 a month which is next to nothing.
