No it's not. They're saying FVF will follow a more standardised structure across different categories from 1st May for business sellers only.

It would help me as I offer free P&P and always feel penalised. Makes the playing field more level.

    Two things:
    1. You don't have to offer free P&P - that's your choice.
    2. You benefit by offering free P&P as you automatically get 5* ratings for P&P - even if the packaging is poor or gets damaged you can't be given less than 5*.

Yes, I know. That is why I offer it.

But if you read what I said, I said it would make it a more level playing field. I pay FVFs on my P&P, so it would be advantageous to me if everyone did, or if they scrapped it completely.

Its against forum rules to call people idiots - but its being done.
I didn't call you an idiot - that was your own assumption (you hadn't even posted in this thread when I said that)! I called the people on ebay who avoid fees idiots - its not against THIS forums rules to do that! I also call people who commit fraud and don't pay tax idiots - again, its not against THIS forums rules to do that.

The sort of people I'm talking about on ebay are those that list, for example, a £10 item that would cost £2 to post, but they list it for 99p and £11 postage. Its blatant fee avoidance and its against the t&c's. Whether you think those t&c's are wrong, unfair or whatever it doesn't matter - if you don't like them, then don't sell there - simples!

I don't see how ebay can similarly charge a proportion of the postal charges, when they do not actually supply or contribute anything to the cost of that wholly external service.

It's a bit like ebay charging sellers for using Facebook or Google - I can't see how ebay could justify charging for something that they don't supply.

PayPal (an eBay company) already charge you 3.5% on the cost of the postage of the sold item.

If it did happen what would concern me is you pay more to list a £3.99 item over a £2 item with £1.99 P&P so would eBay reduce listing fees to accommodate this or would they charge you extra twice?

But strictly speaking the cost they charge is for the receiving of funds, not for what the funds are received for.

Actually I think you can override the autoamtic 5* if you really want - you could when they first started doing it.

Of course they will charge you twice - this is ebay we're talking about!

This is very true, certainly with a certain APP you can. Although Ebay know of the glitch and are trying to rectify it, so it may already be done.

It wasn't a glitch - there used to be a link next to the greyed out stars for p&p cost that said something like you can override the default 5* if you wish. Might not be there anymore.

I have never seen it. Just had some low DSR's removed because of it. I was told by Ebay it was a glitch, but the word glitch for them covers a multitude of things.
