That's rubbish, fees on postage? I'm usually pretty honest with my postage fees, maybe 50p out tops *sob*

So as i see it, there may be no more postage rates - ok, if someone is listing a heavy item not worth much, and they get £2 for it, they will have to ship it AND pay like £5 postage on it?

All i see with this policy is many people refusing to ship goods - who in the right mind sells goods to lose money??? I think its a bad move for private sellers.
    Owed out = lots.

Amazon charge a percentage of the postage fee, but remember, that fee is on a postage credit that Amazon give the seller.

I don't see how ebay can similarly charge a proportion of the postal charges, when they do not actually supply or contribute anything to the cost of that wholly external service.

It's a bit like ebay charging sellers for using Facebook or Google - I can't see how ebay could justify charging for something that they don't supply.

No, it just means that you pay FVFs on the total payment, including the postage element.

However, ebay.uk have categorically denied this will be rolled out to ebay.uk, it's on the community boards somewhere.

The whole postage charge system needs to be re-thought (again!!)

I always though P&P meant postage and packing, packing being the cost to buy an envelope / wrapping paper / etc. I charged £2.00 P&P for a DVD on 2nd class. I paid £1.51 postage, the seller received the item and asked for a 49p refund for "over-charge on P&P". When I stopped laughing, I kindly messaged them back to inform them it cost me more than 49p for an envelope for it to go in. They put in a claim with paypal, and luckily I won. All that for 49p!! I know it's stated someone on ebay, or at least it was when I joined the site, but people need to get some common sense. They are lucky I have a post office within walking distance, or I would be putting bus fare on top of that!!
    Thanks to all posters :A

With paypal, you are paying a percentage on a payment, regardless of what the payment is for. Fair enough.

But with ebay you are paying a fee for selling something and adding the cost of the entirely external postal service. If it's legal for ebay to charge sellers for using Royal Mail, what's to stop Royal Mail or your ISP or whoever similarly charging sellers (or buyers) for using ebay? :( Where will it end???

A seller charging extra for postage is saving himself money, and when i look around this particular website it is full of money savers, not idiots - that kind of pro eBay stuff belongs on eBay discussion boards, here we do things to save ourselves cash, this is what this forum is for.

    I

The fact it also breaches terms and conditions, means it is not moneysaving.

This site is full of moneysavers AND idiots. The moneysavers are the ones who can spot the difference. :D

Maybe the next brilliant ebay scheme will be to start charging sellers for breathing oxygen whilst accessing the website?

10p per lung full – 30% discount for ‘power breathers’! :D
