  • Havent posted in a few days but omg ..... im up to ....wait for it... 14 NSDs!!!

This has smashed my original target. Hopefully i can find another one at least to add to the total before the end of the month. Plus ive noticed i paid a lot more off the CC this month than i had planned too. Mainly because this thread has helped me to focus on keeping my purse firmly in the handbag and fully closed.:j

    Good evening everyone!:j

Can someone please tell me what's NSD stands for?:embarasse Is it no spending days?

    Sorry I'm new here..

No need to apoogise, we were all new on here once, and you're quite right, NSD is a No Spend Day :T

Are you thinking of joining our challenge - we're very friendly on here, lots of support and no judging. Only one real rule, and that's that there is never ever any use of the F word...err...not the Hells Kitchen Mr Ramsey kind, the one spelt f-a-i-l. We never ever fail our targets, we just sometimes don't quite achieve them cos life can sometimes get in the way, but it's the journey that counts and any NSD is money kept in your pocket.

There's some guidelines for newbies at the start of this thread and IF or some other kind soul bumps them mid-thread every so often too. Bascially, you can set your own NSD target for this challenge, and rules. Some people include everything as a spend incl direct debits etc, some like me just include physical cash or card spends, some exclude groceries as these are budgeted for or they are doing other grocery challenges and so on. I recently tweaked my rules to exclude petrol and milk as they really are essentials and so long as that's all I buy, I can still count the day as a NSD.

That is also why some of our targets and totals can vary so much - so don't be put off by some people's huge numbers - think about what you want to achieve and go from there. For me, I joined because I wanted to address the 'little essential' spends I kept making at lunchtime.

Talking of which....a spendy day for me today. Eyebrows duely threaded, found out they have been so successful with their stand they are moving to a shop to offer more treatments next month. Also bought some hayfever tabs for pootr OH and some freshdiscs (wild I know) & anti-bac wipes. Oh, and picked up a little pack of impatiens in Mr W - they were the tiny ones that were normally £2.50 but these were on their last legs so reduced to 50p. Very droppy and dry, but I picked the ones that seemed to have the most new leaves and put them in some water while I was at work. Lo and behold that perked them up (so they were at least attempting to stand upright and not wilted over) and I've put them in some potting compost this evening so hopefully they will recover and not only will I have some bargain plants, I'll feel like I saved them too :T

Sorry for the long post - fingers crossed for the NSD wagon tomorrow - 2 more to target...

ps are we having a Tardis outing on Friday? spoony perhaps we should paint the union flag on the outside?

    Spend day for me today.....

Had a quick scan of the Whoopsies as I was leaving work, and brought home a 4.1kg turkey. Should have been £20.48, but was marked down to £4.99 :T

So that's been in my slow cooker for an hour already, and I guess I know what I'm eating as the main part of every meal (apart from breakfast) for the rest of the week :rotfl: Luckily I finished off a tub of ice-cream last night, so I do actually have a bit of freezer space again ;)

Also picked up a couple of bananas (as I was already spending), but forgot to check the Whoopsied bread so will have to ransack the freezer and pull some out of there for tomorrow's lunch !!! Did think of putting my breadmaker on, but want to try using the 'dough' setting and then baking in the oven the next time I make some - and as I have to be up as close to 4:30am as I can manage (starting work at 6 tomorrow, instead of the 7 shown on the rota - or my normal 1pm for Wednesday - due to being unexpectedly extra short-staffed) I don't want to be messing around this evening !!!

Other news for today - I got my name into the ballot for the 2012 L0ndon M@rathon before I left for work at 6:45am this morning..... probably the most stupid thing I've ever done in my life, but only time will tell rolleyes2.gif
(And I won't know if they've let me have a place or not until early October, so I've got about 24 weeks of training before I hear if I've got a race to use it for or not!!)

Competitive - welcome to the asylum. As kerri said, check out the rules and regulations on the first page of this thread. We start a new thread at the beginning of each month, and you will meet bdini, who sets the prizes for those who achieve their targets and administers the soggy paintbrush for those who don't. Updates on everyone's progress are provided by slowlyfading and catslovelycats, and there's BigMumma to keep us all in order. And boy, do we need that!

CW - yes, putting your name down for the 2012 Marathon was certainly a moment of madness - because, if you get a place you know what will happen, won't you? A NSD gang outing will be arranged and you will run panting round the corner for the home strait to be greeted by the sight of BigMumma in her deckchair surrounded by numerous NSD gang members in various states of intoxication shouting out "Yoohooo! CeeeeDoubleYoooo!" while Igor flashes up the barbecue, Hubert does what Hubert usually does on these occasions and meanwhile, in a corner, a team of wheelclampers are trying to put a wheelclamp on a big blue police phone box but having trouble to find a wheel to clamp....oh yes, we sure know how to show someone up!

Talking of outings - excellent idea from kerri. How about a prize for the best hat at the wedding?

Now if I were 101% positive that would really happen, I'd be more than seriously tempted to apply for a charity place - which would mean working my socks off to raise a mimimum amount of sponsorship as well as training for the actual race :rotfl:
oh yes, we sure know how to show someone up!
fortunately I don't expect there'll be (m)any people there who know me in real life ;)
but there again, I don't think a sight like that would escape the interest of the national rags :rotfl:

A spendy for me today :(
I thought I might just reach my target...... but then realised that I had been thinking that April has 31 days :rotfl:

Oh well..... there's always May! I'll be close again this time, but probably won't quite make it.
