I'd be sooo disappointed to open a pack of these - it'd make its way into the Worst Present Ever thread!

Why, is it that difficult to stick your chocolate spoon in your coffee or hot chocolate! Honestly...

I have just made a batch of chocolate 'swizzlers' instead of spoons. All I did was to take some lollipop sticks (new ones bought from a cake decorating shop), melt some Dairy Milk chocolate and pour it into some petit four cases then, as the chocolate started to set I stuck the lolly sticks in the middle. Once set, peel the case off and wrap in cellophane (the cake case leaves a pretty pattern on the swizzler!). This was a test batch, but had one tonight and certainly did the trick! Might see if I can find something else to use as a mould for a different effect.

Now the swizzler, with a substantial amount of choccie on it, I could see the point of. As a cinammon stick dipped in choc, I can see the point of that too.

Nope, tiff, it isn't hard to put a spoon in a cup of coffee, it just strikes me as something strange and bizarre. Either you give a cheap and nasty set of spoons with the purpose being the chocolate, or you give a really nice set of spoons and spoil the look of them by covering them with choc. I'd be sat there thinking, oh do I thank them for the set of teaspoons or do I thank them for the chocolate? Either way I'd be waiting till I could get on my own to howl with laughter.

I really can't explain it better than that - it's a gimmick. It reminds me, on another level of course, of on occasion I recall when we took some elderly people on a day out, and the powers that be decided to take them to a recyclying warehouse to pick up some junk to make something or other out of....the poor things were so puzzled as to why they were being told to ferret through other people's rubbish. They rooted through the empty boxes looking for the contents...I could imagine exactly how they felt!

Chocolate spoons are just a little something extra you put together with a hot choccie cup, don't think they'd be a gift on their own and anyway so what if they were  some people would be grateful for them I'm sure..

As others have pointed out they are not meant to be pressies on their own really for a lot of people make hot chocolate sets or coffee hampers and they are a a funky addition to a mug with some satches of hot choc and maybe marshmellows. I am hoping to make some if I can find some cheap enough teaspoons and then I will dip the ends in chocolates a few times, maybe even different kinds of chocolate before drizzling some swirls of choc on them for decoration :)

Of course it's very easy to laugh and sneer at other peoples ideas but cheap doesn't always have to equate to being nasty and most people are putting a lot of work and effort into the hampers they are making and to which these items will be included.

To that end I've just thought that it would be nice if the spoons could be tripple dipped in milk/white & plain choc, could end up with some interesting patterns that way!

If someone had bothered to spend time explaining the idea behind the trip then I'm sure they would have understood and come up with some great stuff too.

Well said. Very glad I don't have to come up with a gift for CFC on a budget.
