I would imagine you could have it written out in any name if they are satisfied with the bank account for the repayments to be paid out of. Couldnt you have it made out to say a car dealership?0 -

Well it seems the bank has changed its mind! They are not going to investigate or refund me. Just had a phone call saying it was a genuine transaction and it's my problem. Akin to calling me a liar!
I have the number for the disputes dept and will call in the morning.
But I'm pretty furious right now. might end up having to get the FOS involved in this one.

It's funny I'm now more annoyed with my bank than the payday loan company. By saying this is a genuine transaction, it is implying that it's me trying to defraud it. If I was going to risk my neck defrauding my bank, I think I'd try for a bit more than £250!
I expected the loan company to be uncooperative after all they prey on people in a fix. I never expected the bank I've been a customer of for more than 20 years and with which I have two accounts to be so obstructive and petty. If only head-office were as helpful as the local branch. Oh well.

Have you looked at your credit report? I'm wondering if these fraudsters somehow managed to open another bank account in your name and had the loan paid into that instead. Still doesn't explain why QuickQuid would take the repayment from another account instead though!0

Good thinking re the credit report. Shall try to sort it out tomorrow.

Why is this not being reported to the police. Surely its theft and deception. The bank will not deal with it untill the police are involved.
If this person is not stopped then they could carry on using your details. Or they could do it to someone else.
The police will solve it in no time.0 -

It may well get reported to the police today - just to get an incident number - which may help with bank. I have it on good authority from an ex policeman that they won't investigate the matter though. Small scale card fraud is now considered a matter for the banks.

wait.... that's the address of a flat I went to view last week - it'll explain all the letters piled behind the front door - the lettings agent had a job forcing it open when he showed me round... :rotfl:
Sorry but somehow I don't think any loan can be arranged using a stolen card, certainly not with a reputable high street lender. Methinks, OP had a loan with these guys, felt regret, and so wanted to close it....:p
surely documentation would be sent to you by now with the loan details, T&C etc If so, what name was this loan taken out under?
I'll be honest, the police won't do anything. Just cancel the card...Probably the best Engineer in the World0
