TORX screws/drivers have been around for deacades - rather than being introduced to make DIY repairs on cars more difficult, they were introduced because of their resistance to cam-out, needed as car factories were switching to automated assembly lines.

The security pin down the middle of the screw has nothing to do with that though....

Why do people write letters like that in the OP?

Give people the facts and tell them what actions and outcome you want. Don't tell them their product is a pile of shite and they are incompetent fools or worse (even if it is and they are).

Vauxhall are no worse than a whole load of other dealer networks.

I've always thought that if you want the best service, go with a manufacturer who is struggling to prove a point. A few years ago this would have meant Hyundai or Kia; a few years before that, Skoda.

Now? Probably Chevrolet or Toyota. The latter because of the (largely unfair) battering they've received in the States over the recall fiasco; the former because they are trying to counter a largely negative image with a new range of aggressively-marketed cars but aren't really making much of an impression.

I'd also say Renault; their cars seem to have turned the corner after a very poor 5 years or so in the early 2000s, and seem to be making a genuine effort to improve. Ironically Nissan seem to be going from strength to strength despite being almost as bad during the same period.

Vauxhall? What do Vauxhall have to prove? You'll get the same, adequate-but-not-stunning dealer service that they've always provided.

    In the OP's case:
Is the car under Warranty ?
    If so, from who ?
Strictly speaking the complaint should be with the person/dealer who sold the car to them, not the manufacturer.

    This was the response !
And I thank you for your comments.

1.Garages do you go to a miandealer or someone you trust.
    2. Why should you be forced to pay main dealer charges.
    3. Is this a free country or a nanny state.
    4. Diagnostic test vauxhall - £60.
    5. Diagnostic test Trusted garage ( the guy is called in by main dealers when they cant sort out the problem) - £30.

I had a Ford before they were always fantastic.

    My issue to confirm

Watchdog investigated vauxhall as they knew about the fuel pump and regulator problem

Thank you and good night !!!

Products are getting better but the dealer network is dire. Crap service and ridiculous parts prices

^^ We would do well to remember that dealerships a separate entities to the manufacturers.

Biggest problem IMO with the dealers is chains like Arnold Clark buying them up in droves (up here anyway) who are solely interested in shifting metal (and 2nd hand metal at that - they're very much a used car business) - so they don't give a f--k about aftersales.

None of the torx screws on my vauxhall are the security type.

Go back far enough and everything was flat head rather than cross head.
