Dont buy a Vauxhall if you want decent after service

On the flip side, if you'd gone to Vauxhall first instead of two, maybe three? other places you'd have found out about the recall much faster and may have been in a stronger position to fight your case. It is made more difficult when the people who have worked on the car (i'm guessing) are not Vauxhall trained/approved.
That isn't to say they shouldn't replace a recall part for free but you can't blame them for the coil packs etc which you were advised to buy.
5t.
Don't be so silly, it's Vauxhalls fault that the OP didn't take the car to them and had to pay out because third parties didn't fix the car.0 -

Get a letter telling you please call yes of course you do.
Watchdog knew about faults
DO you all go straight to a main dealer with a fault/// be truthful0 -

No you don't - the only reason you took it to a main dealer was because the garages (not Vauxhall main dealers?) you took it to first of all failed to fix the fault."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

yep based on the garages advice
what I should have done was trust the dealer pay their high rates believe anything they say and wimper in the corner.
No sorry my complaint is now they are not communicating , not discussing, they know of a fault they are hiding from this fault and hoping I will go away well I wont. thankyou for your comments I take them on board.0 -

It's already started, but in future more and more car parts will "tied" into the ECU, forcing people to go to the dealerships.
This is actually not driven by the manufacturers though, it's the dealerships who complain about competition for after service.
In days gone by this was achieved by producing special tools that only the dealerships had access to. Even on the Vectra you need "torx" drivers to remove the security screws on the air filter box!!
My old Peugeot 306 had these screws in almost every single part....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If you had taken the car to the main dealer in the first place, maybe you wouldn't be in the position you are in now - having paid money to two independent garages who FAILED to fix the problem. I can guarantee you that the way you seem to be interacting with Vauxhall themselves is extremely unlikely to give you the result you
are hoping to get."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

TORX drivers are available to buy from most decent DIY stores - they are hardly specialist tools."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

Im aware of this and so are the manufacturers.....
But go back 10-15 years (age of my old 306) and most of us didn't even know what a TORX driver was.
The methods have gone from physical restrictions (although still used to deter home mechanics), to software restrictions.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

TORX screws/drivers have been around for deacades - rather than being introduced to make DIY repairs on cars more difficult, they were introduced because of their resistance to cam-out, needed as car factories were switching to automated assembly lines."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
