This. It's a murky sort of hell in dd's room. Can't understand how she ever finds anything.
Although, to be fair, from the amount of clothes decorating the floor.. maybe she can't!
Same here! Her room is painted a dark purple metallic as well. It reminds me of the inside of a coffin. We must be too soft. My mother never let me have an untidy room, or decorate it how I wanted it. I shared it with my sister but it could've belonged to a couple of old spinsters!0 -
My teenage son almost NEVER opens his curtains...going in his room is like entering some strange twilight world. If he does it to try to deter me from going in, it's not a bad move :rotfl:
OMG I thought I was the only one with a teenager who hates the curtains drawn. I go in and draw them and she instantly pulls them back together as soon as I leave!

I've got one of those as well, blind down, curtains closed & sits in the dark, I'm sure he must have night vision goggles in there! we call it his caveMy teenage son almost NEVER opens his curtains...going in his room is like entering some strange twilight world. when he's not at home, as soon as he's out of the door I open the curtains, up with the blind & open his window, then try not to look on my way out
EDIT ... I see I'm not alone
my mum was obsessive about her curtains being opened & closed at the 'correct' times in case the neighbours would talk about her

I always have my curtains open, as looks like I'm either in bed all day, or away. I used to have vertical blinds at one of my previous houses, and they were always 1/2 open/closed for privacy during the day, but the surrounding curtains open still.0

I hardly ever open my curtains.
In the living room we have blinds which usually lets in enough light in the daytime anyway and in the bedroom, I'm always out during the day and therefore don't bother.
They're only opened during the weekends when I'm home all day.0 -
We open them to make the house look occupied, and to let in some light (which makes us feel better).0

I'm avoiding opening our living room curtains at the moment - I've spotted a massive spider lurking up there:eek:2011 Wins : Models own makeup product, Photoplusx4 software:j Mens hair dye :rotfl:0

Because I like to exercise in the living room in the nude; but my partner doesn't want the neighbours to think she's just with me for my money.0

Our neighbours opposite never close their front room curtains day or night.
We always close our when it gets dark and open them every morning.
When we are away they stay open, so I am not sure that leaving them closed in the day suggests an empty house any more than leaving them open.
Does any one still have the tradition of closing curtains during the day when there is going to be a funeral from a neighbouring house? I came across this once years ago in a Yorkshire town. I didn't know about in time to fit in with the local custom. Was it just local?
Does anyone still do this?0
