by george I think he's got it :j

not quite exact numbers though - you lose a little depending on how close the odds are each time and a little in commission at Betfair too. The matcher spreadsheet shows you how much to put on your lay bet. Get yourself over to the newbie thread on matched betting and have a go :D

I second that- get yourself over to the newbie thread now the penny's dropped and see the examples that other people are putting forward. Put a couple of suggestions forward yourself, everyone will look at the figures for you and then you can start for real!

With my debts I'm going to need a few thousand bookies but hey, every little helps :D

    Hurray.

Now based on this calulater thingy

    If I back at 3.25 (9/4?) i get £81 (roughly)

I then lay a stake of £23 at 3.45 (5/2?) - meaning I could lose £58 (which is the amount I assume I need in Betfair)

    That it? Has it clicked?

Are you starting with £25? I make the figures as below:

Free Stake £25.00 Stake forfeit £0.00

Back Odds 3.25 Back Commission 0 Back Return £81.25

Lay Odds 3.45 Lay Commission % 5 Lay Risk £58.55

Back Profit £22.70 Lay Profit £22.70

    Lay Stake £23.90

Check that your lay commission is set to 5%- I think the default is 3% but only people who are spending a fortune will ever get that commission.

And yes, you'll need to have £58.55 in Betfair to cover the lay.

I do believe you've cracked it- well done :j

You are pretty much there. The back return is only if your bet wins at the bookie and your lay return is only if you win at Betfair. Also make sure your comission is changed to 5%. When you open the spreadsheet change the comm to 5% then save it. That way it will always be correct when you open it. :)

The important things are that your back stake is correct of £25. Then you have to be careful to lay the exact amount it says, in this case £23.90. This means your returns are £22.70 as the spreadsheet says. This means that with your initial £25 bet (we call it the qualifying bet) you have lost £1.10

But now you have a lovely shiny £25 free bet token in your account. If you backed and layed the same bet at the same odds that £23.90 return is all profit. So all you do is take the profit of £23.90, and subtract the £1.10 you originally lost on your qualifying bet for a grand total of £22.80 profit! :T

Ok, so I got its clicked ty all ( will probaly get round to click thanks on all the relevant posts) All i need to do now, is find some bookies i havnt had accounts with previously and secondly, reduce my overdraft to allow me to make any bets.

Anyone want to borrow me some money?

    Also- I just spotted this

The calculator thing assumes that the stake is NOT RETURNED. correct?

Have you got a Corals account? If not there is a free £50 SR bonus available with no special T&C's attached to it. Great one to start with. :)
