Like I said - it was a soft question with an obvious answer. I have registered with couple of bookies before offering a matched bet. Only problem I have had with them is that my bet loses, and my match bet usually loses as well. Plus would I be right in thinking, once you have used your matched (which you usually do to withdraw it ) you withdraw funds and cancel the account?

Hold on there mate! Don't bet anymore money!

Do you know how the matched betting works? You lay the same result ayt Betfair so that one of your bets wins and one loses!

What have you done so far?

I started doing matched betting about two months ago. It was really confusing at first but I made a little bit of money and slowly got better at it.

I did a spreadsheet showing how much money I have made last night. To my amazement it came to a total of just over five hundred pounds! I'm starting to run out of options now but nevertheless it's a good little Christmas bonus to buy presents with.

I've heard that some people have made thousands but I don't know what their secret is I'm afraid.

My advice would be to take it slowly and carefully at first. You'll soon get the hang of it.

Nowt yet, never really looked at betfair before (dont really understand it TBH)
I now it involves "backing" the loser, but I cant see how this would make money, as you are losing money with backing a winner.

Sure Im just confusing myself here.

You are kind of right there.

Lets do football for example. You back at say Coral £25 on Man U to beat Chelsea.
You then lay at Betfair for Man U to beat Chelsea. But what laying means is acting as the bookie. So in effect you are now Coral and I'm you taking the bet at Betfair. Think of Betfair as a betting warehouse. Just a place we meet to do the bets.

So if Man U win you win at Coral but then you have to payout at Betfair because they didn't lose or draw.

If Man U lose or draw you lose at Coral but win at Betfair.

These 2 bets cancel each other out for a minimal loss. Lets say a quid. Well thats no good BUT you have now activated the free bet. So when you bet at Coral again its not your money. So by doing the same process you will lose £1 again (if all odds stayed the same). That means you have made £24 from that bet minus the £1 of your money lost equals £23 overall profit! :)

Have a read of these threads.
