whatatwit wrote:From what I have read so far and struggled to understand, is that you need the odds to be matched.
You look for odds as close together as possible. If you play around with the matcher spreadsheet you will see the closer together they are the more profit you make.0 -

So that's where I've been going wrong - I've been putting the odd 5p I find in the drum into DD's piggy bank, because I'm a nice Mummy, and it keeps it nicely in one place when a raid becomes necessary LOL!If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning

So let me see if i got this right, using the two teams today.
I back Utd with coral for say £25 (which I lost)
I lay Utd with Betfair (all the mugs bet chelsea) an I win?
And that about sums it up?
Two more mor ethings if thats the case.
1) where is the calculator thing (searched and cant find anything)
2) And i mentioned this before. After you have extracted cash from which ever bookie, do you carry on using them?No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

You're getting there. By laying Man U at Betfair you are offering other people the chance to back Man U with yourself. So laying Man U means you win if its a draw or Man U lose! :think:Two more mor ethings if thats the case.

Have a look here for the matcher spreadsheet. It's by number 4!
No but you keep the account for any future existing customer offers but once the bonus has been done you move on to the next bookie.0 -

Serious ones?
You must have me confused with some other fat yellow bald hunk!0 -
Hang about - summats just clicked (probably my brain getting into gear)
Using Utd and Chelsea as my bet example (provided I do everything right) i win either way (disregarding pennies) so i bet £25 and get £25 rerurned either way.
Then I bet £25 (my matched bet) on Liverpool/Arsenal and get £25 either way (so im now 25 quid up)
And all I need to do is do this with about 500 bookies and im debt free?:rotfl:No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

by george I think he's got it :j
not quite exact numbers though - you lose a little depending on how close the odds are each time and a little in commission at Betfair too. The matcher spreadsheet shows you how much to put on your lay bet. Get yourself over to the newbie thread on matched betting and have a go:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -

Now you've got the concept let me explain a little further. You will hardly ever get the full bonus. The reason for this is that Betfair charge 5% comission so you'll never get 100% of the bonus. Also if you can't find really close odds it affects the profit but you should be looking at around 95% of the bonus returned. Play with the spreadsheet to see how it affects profits.
There are also 2 types of bonus. SR - stake returned, and SNR - stake not returned. With SNR bonuses you should get about 80-85% of the bonus back. You basically find markets with odds higher than 7.0 to get the most out of them but don't worry too much about that at the moment. There are plenty of SR bets about.
Also don't rush into signing up to bookies. Make sure you ask for the best deals. For example there are referals for opening a Betfair account and lots of other bookies and you can also go through Quidco to earn more money.0
