Credit Expert from Experian - Cancelling

Nearly at my 30 day limit for my free trial for this and the equifax equivalent.
For both I seem to have to call them between 9 and 5, Mon to Fri to cancel but I won't be able to do this because i'm at work.
My question is, if I report my debit card that i signed up with as lost and cancel it will they cancel my credit expert?
Or will they register something negative on my credit file??

you can email them to cancel, just go to their home page and go to contact us, send them an email with your reference no. name and address and say you want to cancel. this will be easier than cancelling your cardFinally had the "lightbulb moment" now facing up to debtsIf you aint got nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all0

thanks for that advice, can they register anything on my credit file for the reasons above?0

I was with Experian and genuinely did lose my bank card.
I had a couple of emails from them, one to advise they had attempted payment and would try again a few days later and then another to say they had still been unsuccessful and that I wouldn't be able to gain access until I had signed up again.
I did sign up again because it was a service that I used quite often and nothing had been registered on my file.My Debts:
Barclays Overdraft - £1600 Capital One CC - £1200
March Targets:
Barclays Overdraft - £500 Capital One - £75.52 (Double minimum payment)0 -
thanks that's exactly what i needed to know0

Please don't do this! Some card companies will still honour the payments. You can call us to cancel on 0800 561 0083 any time between 9am and 6pm. We also accept email cancellations in the first two weeks of the free trial. You agreed to this in the Ts and Cs.

Normally a message gets bounced back from customerservice@creditexpert.co.uk with instructions to call in.
This call is purely for retention purposes, and you will be told the only alternative is to snail mail post your cancellation in....normally people are right on the edge of their 30 day trial and will get charged if they do this, and will meekly comply.
However if you ignore this bounced back reply and repeat the email twice further confirming how many times you have written, it should get cancelled on the third go, and you should get confirmation of this emailed back. If not keep emailing til they do. Always quote your full name, the 8 digit reference number, and use the email you registered you membership to.0 -

Edited version of your response to save space,
What about those who try to call the number and get 'we are busy - disconnect'
I've tried for several months to call and cancel and got the above, and this has left me with a charge I don't want to pay any more. It has also cost me bank charges, so double charge.
Can I reclaim them from an agency that holds and controls my information without my permission? (remember when they started up without peoples permission)
Do not sign up and even offer to pay a company that is holding your info and asking you to pay for it - this should be free - and not abused by businesses like yours.0 -

I just tried the freephone cancellation number and got straight through. Exactly the same last week too. We did struggle with call volumes about two years ago and I posted on here about that at the time. No problems I'm aware of since then. However, if anyone's experienced problems cancelling for whatever reason they need to contact us with details so we can look at it.
It's not in our interest to make it difficult for people to leave because many ex-customers return and join the service again in the future.

Glad you could get through James, I couldn't, but I finally got it sorted through the CustomerService@creditexpert.co.uk email after sending a mail through the website, it took a bit but one of your colleagues did take ownership of a problem and managed it in half an hour and with my thanks for his help is also passing on my comments (which I am pleased to see happen).
My reply to the standard e-mail to call the 0800 number is below, which hopefully will help others with a route to solving the same problem.
Thank you for your reply ********(edited the persons name out for their privacy), unfortunately the 0800 number is the problem, I can never get through and it just disconnects after telling me how busy you are.
Even though I pay by debit card, my card my money, I cannot stop payments and since there is only a constantly busy line (people trying to cancel I guess) you are simply stealing from me.
Security you can confirm online or I can't trust my own login to your website if this is not the case, the following 3 reasons are blatant marketing/retention.
*Resolve any issues that you have had.
*Gain your feedback about the service.
*Help you with any credit report issues that you may have.
Please escalate this to someone that can assist and not quote what is already on the site.
This finally did the trick and I look forward to not having a charge on my card again this month, this has cost me overdraught charges too as I'm on a seriously limited income and no benefits only working tax credits, I work 16 hours per week and pay for everything with that (that's £160 per week minus everything after that), and need to run a car to get to work in the first place or I can't get there for shifts.
£6.99 might not seem like much, but to some of us it is, please feed this back James, setup about 30 years ago and without anyone in the general public knowing about the credit reference companies, it's about time you played fair with the people paying your wages without their 'real' consent.
Sorry for going on folks - but you don't often get a target from one of these places (no offence James, I don't shoot the messenger but maybe give them a hard time sometimes)

I know it might not be your field James - but here's one to look into - Letter from Hillside Services, page 3.
Your companies response would be welcome to the discrepancies in paid for reports and why certain agencies are allowed to search without permission.
My 'NOW' record is a mess.
Credit Report 4th April 2011 - 7 pages
Credit Report 12th April 2011 - 32 pages
Just trying to download a last one after finally cancelling (I still hope, billing date is not yet here, but plenty of spam is) it's full of, well, loads of extra bits that were not there previously.
Is this a scare tactic? Do we have to stay signed up or our records get the 'treatment' - It adds up to unacceptible and your licence should be revoked.0
