We have had a great day. We had planned to go to a museum but ended up walking 8 miles along the Thames. I saw lots of things never seen before - the Golden Hind, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, HMS Belfast and the OXO Building. Needless to say, our feet hurt now!

Just decluttering the wine and Christmas chocs now.

    Hi Kirsty,

    Happy New Year to you.

London was a very cheap day out, just rail tickets, plus coffee and a cake after all that walking. The total was about £22.00 so we were very pleased with that.

    Happy New Year Everyone.

Last night was a very quiet affair. We watched a DVD , the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, which we really enjoyed, then watched Graham Norton who was very funny. After that we watched the London firework display - amazing.

I have been thinking about setting some goals for the new year. Sadly, I did not quite reach my target of getting the mortgage sub £50k by today, just £288.62 off. We did overpay £4735.56 which was almost double the previous years OPs. Tomorrow’s mortgage payment will see the figure drop below £50,000 so that’s exciting. :j

So back to this year. Firstly I would like to achieve the same level of OPs, if not more. Secondly, I would like to focus on our house. I no longer have the desire to move, so I want to make this house as close as possible to the home of my dreams. I would love to have an outdoor space – we have a tiny garden that is being overtaken by the foliage, so I would like to have a patio or a deck, and the garden landscaped, plus a new shed. Ideally I would like to have this done by Easter so that we can enjoy this space this summer. I have no idea how much this would cost so I am going to start getting some quotes sooner rather than later. Another job is our lounge which is in desperate need of a lick of paint and our sofas are falling apart. I think the sofas will cost about £1500.00 – I do keep looking on ebay but have yet to find something that I love. We will also need to pave our front garden at some point as parking around here is becoming a problem, but I am hoping that that is a job for 2014.

And personally, I need to sort myself out. So today I have hidden the Xmas chocs and taken all the wine out of the fridge. DH & I have already been out for a lovely walk in the sunshine. I am loathed to state a target weight. To lose one stone would be great, to lose two stone would be fantastic, as this is an ideal weight for me, but I haven’t been that weight for quite a few years. I would also like to find a yoga class and try that – I think that would benefit me two fold, for my mind and my body. A while ago someone mentioned to me that they were going to set themselves a challenge of walking 500 miles in a year. I thought that was a great idea and I started it on 15.11.12. It is great motivation, as even on a rainy day, I go out for a short walk, so I will complete that challenge this year.

Well that’s quite a lot of waffle so here are the bullet points:

    1. Achieve OPs of at least £4735.56

    2. Decorate lounge

    3. New sofas

    4. Patio, landscaping & new shed

    5. Lose some weight (silver star for 14lbs, gold star for 28lbs)

    6. Try a yoga class

    7. Walk 500 miles by 14.11.13

And finally, have some fun. 2013 is the year to start having some more fun, happiness and laughter.

Just back from work to an empty house. DH is still at work and the kids are on the ferry on their way home :T They should arrive home at about 10pm.

And the amazing news (other than the impending arrival of the kids) is that the mortgage balance is £49863.08 :j:j:j:j

To celebrate I increased my Tillytidy from 9p to £1.09 :rotfl:

Off out for a walk now.

I forgot to mention - I have researched yoga classes and there is a class about 10 miles away. I just have to find the courage to go

I postponed the walk, and focused on the fun part of life so popped round to see a friend that I hadn't seen for a month or two. We had a laugh (mainly at her daft dog). Then I went out for a walk. I was feeling quite virtuous until I ate a biscuit

The children are home and so far, the bickering hasn't restarted. Long may that continue. I am looking forward to Monday when they go back to school/college so that I can get back into a routine.

I made the mistake of mentioning to DH a while back, that any additional OPs now (not the OPs on standing order), will not pay off the mortgage any faster. He is now questioning the little OPs . It's my fault - he is no way as motivated as me re OPing. He likes the idea of the mortgage being gone and has made some adjustments re spending less. I did point out that the more we OP now, the more of the final endowment settlement comes to us and not the mortgage company, but he's not that convinced. So, to try and reach a compromise, I put some surplus funds into the ISA yesterday and made a big thing about telling him. I will have to be quiet about the Tilly tidies that I make in future.

I have had quite a harrowing night. Our 19 year old cat was looking quite poorly last night, and for the last 48 hours had stopped purring, and was more frail than ever. I thought that it would be time to put her down today and I didn't know how I was going to be able to find the strength to take her to the vets, to have it done. Selfishly I had hoped that she would just pass away in her sleep. I have been thinking about this on and off all night. This morning DH brought her up to bed to see me and she was purring :j. I know we are on borrowed time but for today at least, she is eating again and looking brighter.

Off to the city today as DS wants to go to Hollister with his Christmas gift cards.

Oh and in other news, I've lost 3lbs :j:j

great news on the weight loss, it's so hard this time of year when too cold to excercise and chocolates still lying around, so well done:j

Hope the cat gets well soon.
