Sadly the bottle of wine stayed in the fridge as DH had a headache and wanted a cup of tea instead. It was consumed last Saturday though. :p

The conservatory work is still ongoing. We now have a frame and glass and today the plastering has been finished. Just a screed floor, electrics, plumbing, skirting boards to go and then I expect the glazing company to do a huge clean up as it is now absolutely filthy. I am sure they have no intentions of cleaning it, but I have no intentions of writing a cheque for the final payment until I am happy. Also, I need a night of heavy rain, because the last time it rained, it leaked like a sieve. I will be very glad when it is all over. It can’t be long now, can’t it?

The interest free period has expired on the CC and I had to make a large payment to clear it. What with the New York trip and now the conservatory, the rainy day fund is severely depleted, so all money saving efforts need to be focused in that area. Meanwhile, the usual standing orders for the mortgage overpayments continue (approx. £315 per month). It just means that any additional funds will be diverted back into savings.

I have put some of DD’s things on Fleabay – a Mons00n dress and a pair of Cl@rks boots. Both have a bid so that’s good.

DH & I have stepped up the dieting. I am not enjoying it, but on the MSE front, at least we are eating less! :rotfl:

P.S. Thank you for the anniversary wishes.

  • It seems like you're ticking along nicely with the regular OPs, spot of ebaying and dieting together.

Fingers crossed for an attempted clear up by the builders but I don't want to get your hopes up!

The electrics have been done and the screed laid. Apparently the skirting boards will be done by the end of the day. Tomorrow morning the radiator is going back on the wall, but I have to paint behind it first with three coats.

I can finally see an end to it all – I am longing for a morning when I don’t have to rush out of bed because the builders are coming.

I have taken a tip out of Tilly’s book and I have decided to overpay the pennies when the current account is not a whole number. Tilly mentioned that this had helped her so I am blatantly copying her idea (hope you don’t mind Tilly). Yesterday I overpaid…………wait for it………………13p :rotfl:

Ebay sales were good – both items went for more than I had hoped. Just need to post the darn things now. Does anyone else have lethargy when it comes to posting the packages or is it just me?

Our cat has to have a minor op to be shaved again this Friday. She is very old and unable to groom herself properly so she has become extremely matted. If we try to groom her, we get hissed at and scratched, so she will have to have a general anaesthetic at the vets. With that and her annual jabs, the vet’s bill will come to £200.00

The diet is going well. I just need to keep going.

    Hi MRN,

    Thanks for dropping by.

I have news! The builders did some cleaning. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing :j

  • I find with the dust created by builders/carpenters etc. it takes a few goes to eradicate it anyway so at least they did the first pass for you!
