Credit Card Protection (egg)

Hi I see there are other threads about 'egg' but I didn't want to hijack them.
My situation is this:-
As my finances are getting a bit ropey I have started paying closer attention to my statements with regards to my egg CC.
I have just recently noticed that £20 is being taken out, per month, from my card (Credit Card Protection) and this could possibly of been going on for the past 5 years!
I have never requested this feature/charge and to my memory nobody has even attempted to sell me it.
I swiftly contact them and requested that it be cancelled immediately, as I never asked for it in the first place. They complied with my request, although they stated that it would be another month due to the T&C of the contract.
The issue has now been passed to some department and they say they have 8 weeks to come to a decision as to how it will be resolved.
Is there anything more I can do at this time, or do I just have to sit and wait? I am under the impression that I have to wait for their resolution before contacting the FOS.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Have you complained to them about the PPI being mis-sold and asked for a full refund? From what you've said it sounds like you have only asked them to cancel the refund. If that is the case, I would say you should fill out the questionnaire on this site and send that to them.
If you have made a mis-selling complaint, you should wait for them to issue their final response. If you are not happy then, you can take it to the FOS.I drum and knit to help Independent Drummers and Knitters to comply with their rhythms and knitting patterns. Thanks for your response. I have indeed requested all back payments to be efunded. Can someone point me in the general direction of where this 'questionnaire' is that you talk about. Many thanks again.

The questionnaire can be found on this site here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/redir/b26c6b8fkriptikchicken wrote: »Thanks for your response. If you've already complained to them you may not need to complete it, but they may request that you send them one at some point during their investigation. If you later decide to go to the FOS, you will have to complete it anyway. You could always just fill it in for funI drum and knit to help Independent Drummers and Knitters to comply with their rhythms and knitting patterns. If it's Credit Card Protection then the PPI questionnaire won't be the right form.
And I suspect you'd need to complain to/about the insurance company directly, rather than Egg. Chances are it would be CPP.

Our OP chicken friend is referring to CCP, not CPP. I doubt CPP would be costing him £20 per month! That would be ridiculous! So the questionniare IS the right form, and Egg ARE the right company to complain to.Alpine_Star wrote: »If it's Credit Card Protection then the PPI questionnaire won't be the right form.

I'm not suggesting he has.
Egg use CPP (Card Protection Plan PLC) and in my view if the amounts are being taken out under the description 'Credit Card Protection' or 'Barclay Card Protection' this would, by definition, be a policy that protects the card, rather than the payments on it.
The OP would be well advised to check what the insurance is before submitting the complaint to FOS.0 -
If you've never seen loan PPI referred to as "loan protection" and credit card PPI referred to as "card protection" then you've never truely lived. They add the suffix "plan" simply because they plan to rob you blind.Alpine_Star wrote: »I'm not suggesting he has.

CPP call their policies 'Card Protection' - which isn't PPI.

Like I said the OP would do well to check what the policy is before waiting months for the FOS to to tell him that he doesn't have the PPI he's complaining of.0 -
Thanks for the link my alpine friend, however I notice that policy costs only £35 per year. Our OP chicken friend has been paying £20 per month, which stinks of PPI. I can smell it from here.Alpine_Star wrote: »CPP call their policies 'Card Protection' - which isn't PPI.
