Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Oh PP, what an awfully sad story....it must have taken a lot for you to write it up. My thoughts and condolences.
Just wanted to add that in no way did you let your friend down - he must have trusted you a lot and thought highly of you to come and talk to you - that makes you a fab friend and the kind we all need.

I have just read your message about your friend and feel very sad. I will alway remember this in the future. So sorry for your loss and all the best0

That's very sad.
It was the secrecy and loss of trust that took your friend.
I bet, if I'd met this couple socially , they'd have given the appearance of "having it all".
What's great about this site is that it educates people to take control of money, not the other way round.
Time for kids to be given personal finance lessons in school, then money wouldn't have this taboo around it.0 -
Awful, awful news please accept my deepest sympathy. A salutory lesson for us all DFWs and wannabe DFWs. Remember the article Martin did with RBS about a customer who had committed suicide - I hope he reads this. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Especially the fact that a company who pays an employee £60,000 a year can't make contact with her and even worse that they discuss this over the phone with what is a stranger if he never rang a company phone number.
A sad story for sure but one you will never know the truth of and I doubt it is much to do with debt. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thanks for post! It may not ring true with you but believe me...it is! I am not willing to go into all the details with you and answer irrelevant questions. To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
