Next time, just put on a Red jacket when you deliver something, and he'll think you're the Post Man!!

Or if you are an actual postman, you can deliver it yourself wearing your work uniform and get it signed for that way for proof of delivery. Not that I have ever done that though!
English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0 -
I would leave a neg if the item was small and could be posted for less than £2 as the seller was clearly over charging for P+P, however if it would have actually cost roughly the same either way I wouldnt be concerned.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

Don't refund and just take the neg feedback, what does it matter? Wouldn't be bothered about it.0

Next time just leave it in their wheely bin - they'll think HDN delivered it

I think you should've refunded a couple of quid as a gesture.
But what's done is done now. It's just a lesson to learn from I guess.
Do what I do. If people win an item, get them to come to you (then offer refund on postage), or send as per normal via royal mail. Never go to them with the item, no matter what (always leads to trouble).
And Never Never leave feedback first!! Put in your captions "I will leave positive feedback after you have done the same".
You may lose a few feedbacks but will save you getting negative ones.
Best of luck!!
P.S. Don't offer that guy a refund by the way-he's done the damage with the neg feedback!!:rotfl:0 -
You most definitley should not refund a single penny!! When you list an item all costs involved in purchasing that item are clear for any potential bidder to see, if a bidder is not prepared to pay the total price including the displayed p&p charge for that item they should not bid in the first place. More fool them for not having the foresight to notice you were local to them and asking if they could collect, and well done to you for having the acumen to increase your profit margin, if only by a couple of pounds, by dropping it off whilst out. There are way to many sad disgraceful and petty people using ebay today who think it exists just so they can get something for next to nothing all the time, and ebay these days only protects the buyer and not the seller, seller can't leave negative feedback, buyers can change there mind and refuse to pay, all these bad ebay buyers can get is an unpaid item strike. OOOOhhh scary!!! when they collect a few of these they'll just re-register with a new account/name etc etc, nice one ebay!! You should not feel guilty, have nothing to gain by offering a refund, and have done no wrong, stomach the feedback, put it down to experience and just hope for less petty winning bidders in future!0

As anyone who uses eBay should know, when purchasing one looks at the TOTAL price of the item including postage, the split (between price and postage) is irrelevant when it comes down to it, postage costs quoted hardly ever match reality (too high or too low), its why there is an option to sort results by price plus postage and packing, anyone who has a problem with this shouldn't bother using eBay in the first place. In my opinion, to complain about postage costs when the item was delivered to their door faster than second class post would have got it there is just being petty. However, saying that the petrol cost £5 for the journey was stupid, you should just have used the arguement I just mentioned and told them to take it up with eBay if they have a problem, one lot of bad feedback shouldn't ruin your seller rating, nobody is perfect.2020 Wins:

P&P on eBay is not and has never been related to the actual price of postage.
It is well known eBay fee avoidance, that's why media has a P&P cap now - I used to sell digital items at 1p with £9.99 delivery charge - clearly stated in the advert that items would be e-mailed.
I would take the negative and leave a comment that you upgraded delivery for free and he whined.
And refunding is just daft. You gave him a better delivery service. Whether it cost you more or less is irrelevant. It is like me asking for a cheeseburger and getting a double as one was sat on the side...Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
