Is it only me who finds it highly amusing that a poster known for his forthright style could be such a shrinking violet IRL?
I think you can be firm and civil. The two things aren't mutually exclusive.
However, if that's too boring, you could always accuse her of stalking you. I bet that would work!

I thought (although I've been wrong in the past about these things...) that plants in the garden had to stay with the property, but plants that are in tubs / pots / baskets could be taken away by the vendors? I've kept my blueberry bush in tub just in case...0

sounds to me like you drove a hard bargin and so the ex-owners took everything they could. then they find out your gutting the place and realise they should have taken more!
the place is legally yours and unless your personal life is inter-twined with the ex-owners just text back NO to the request or ignore it.
A little story from the past - a couple agreed a price for a house and then kept dropping the offer at every stage of the purchasing process. when they finally got the keys the brand new carpet that had been fitted to the hall stairs and landing had been ripped off and dumped by the bin. But the the new owners couldn't understand why the ex-owners had done this...........0 -
If the things she keeps coming back for weren't mentioned in the sale I would just tell her that it has all been disposed of. If she still keeps pestering threaten to sue her for the cost of disposing of the items...she has to leave the property empty when she vacates it.
That aside **** off also sounds like a good suggestion!0 -
