Yep you are right there, the CSA are not as powerful as I thought; I mean its ridiculous; way too much leeway is given to the NRP. We should adopt the way the American's do it; put out WANTED posters for not paying up and sling their backsides in jail and mean it; not just some half hearted threat of jail or losing their licence/passports etc.

Don't worry DUTR I shan't be hooking up with any loser's again and I will phone the CSA every week if I have to til they are sick of me :p

I have frequent HUGE phonebills as I do that too ... adding to the budgeting problem :( catch 22 I think that is called !!

Just out of interest did your MP ever get involved? My MP was involved with the case and wrote to the CSA and I intend to keep him updated with each problem I encounter with them. Can't harm can it having a MP on their backs too ;)

A while back there was a policy to try and name and shame the NRPs, on the CSA website, naturally the PWCs were not to have it all their own way, the PWCs were named who were claiming benefits and the childrens names were listed via a website outside of Uk juristriction, so the idea soon stopped :o.

As Gratefulforhelp mentions no one is perfect at predicting a personality, however as we get older and wiser experience lends itself to help (some call it having a chip on our shoulders )

No my MP has never been involved, to be honest as I live in a conservative area, I don't hold much hope if he was involved (single mothers are not the favourite people of the Tories!)

I have lost count how many times I have complained to the CSA, most of the time they ignore the letters, and the rest of the time I get told my case is being reviewed in a 12 week timescale, and so it begins again. The words dog and tail-chasing spring to mind!

My MP is conservative too and didn't hold out much hope either; but they literally wrote to the CSA within a day of me contacting them and followed up the complaint and wrote me a lengthy letter back once they had heard from the CSA; so I'm quite optimistic that they would pick up the ball again.. give them a try if you have any more problems; might just be the presence you need.

I was specifically referring to obtaining payslips/ proof from the employer, rather than waiting for the NRP to pull their finger out and do it.

IMO the CSA shouldnt boast/threaten powers that they are unwilling or unable to use. Perhaps if they were able to implement these powers, we would get the maintenance we desperately need.

Legally the CSA have to give him a chance to provide this information himself, if he hasn't done this within 7 days then they will send a form off to his employer.

I'm not really sure why they're waiting until the reassessment has been done before imposing the DEO though, there's no real reason why they can't impose it now.

My MP is Conservative too and helped sort mine out, and I just got a reply from him too containing a letter the CSA sent to him explaining what had gone wrong with my case and how they had put it right. I don't necessarily think it is fair to assume that MPs won't help out because of the party they represent - at the end of the day, the represent YOU!

I was very impressed with the speed in which the MP dealt with it; and you are right, it shouldn't be about which party they represent. I will have no hesitation in asking for his help again; it certainly seems to make the CSA 'sit up and take notice' a little bit more I think.

The reason is because there are still arrears, plus he wants a reassessment to lower future payments which means the current payment schedule is now wrong and a new payment schedule will need to be set up so his employer knows how much to deduct.. :o

Following some seriously frustrating calls on Friday (3 lengthy calls made by me) which was just a lot of fobbing off, excuses and broken promises of a call back the same day. I have taken the plunge and contacted my MP via email, he responded asking me to put it in writing and send to the house of commons, which I have done via recorded delivery. So now I just cross my fingers and hope for the best.
A year ago, the stupid case worker, assessed my ex to pay 15 % of his monthly income (should be weekly) so I have been underpaid since then, then further deductions started in January meaning I was getting a paltry £30.07 per month for my DD. I queried this, and they decided to do finance work...and there the problems escalated.

I just hope the MP will put a rocket up their backside.
