As long as it accepts external transfers (which the vast majority do) the withdrawal will work fine.

The DD will almost certainly be rejected though.

because you are only allowed one of each paypal account so it looks if you try and add the same account as if you have two

Why's it paypals fault that your account has a withdrawl limit? That's your bank not paypal. Open another current account and use that.

Just cancel it after your account has been verified. Though having it in place is useful if you have funds there for buying. You need to do this to verify your account with the bank account it is a security measure to check youir identitiy.

If you do this you'll come across some paranoid individuls who lost money because they didn't spend 10 minutes understanding Paypals terms and conditions. One of the hate sites is actually paid for by one of Paypals US competitors.

99% of people use paypal with no problems.

on that last note agreed i understand your point but Paypal do operate to some extent like this i have friends who are internet Marketers for some corporate brands well known on the market who have run into problem for their clients with paypal one that came into mind was a charity based website which sold certain products for a good cause and relied on paypal as the current payment processor and when They Verified the account and had it active for a certain extend of time It was suddenly closed with the funds frozen Until They could prove were the money had came from and any other problems also on behalf of paypal's policy's

Even the whole Wikileaks Scandal in the news can show the donations Julian assange he received to fund the site contenrt was pulled away by paypal but thats a politicial issue and one for debate which i am not going to get into on MSE.

My whole point is that there is two sides to every coin and paypal are no angels sometimes. From my own experiences i have had i know that to be true.

Which means that only my hubby or I (not both of us) can have a bank account linked to our Paypal account, as we only have one current account between us. That's irritating. :(

Will have to make sure we only ever sell on eBay on one our eBay accounts and that we link the bank account to the relevant Paypal account.

Well two thing to add only:
1.The Paypal only want to make sure they take the fees, eaasily.
    2. Do not allow any other payment ways - Paypal only.

You can add an email address onto a paypal account if you want to. So if you access your husbands Paypal, you can ADD another email account/user. Making sense?

If you do set up the DD with another card, you can just cancel it straight away after Paypal has taken out the two withdrawls to prove it's your account. Just cancel it through your bank :)

You could email them: https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/helpscr?cmd=_help&t=escalateTab or call them?

DebtHater - do you have the option in your Paypal account to stop paying by DD and solely pay by card?

From memory, you can set the card as your primary funding source. Then the DD would sit in the background just as a "back-up" should the card not go through.

Looking at some of these replies, people seem to generally think that Paypal is a bad service. What people forget is that Paypal operate over the internet, they dont know you from Adam. When you open a bank account, you go in face-to-face and prove your ID with paperwork. Paypal however cant request we all go and visit them for verification, so they do it this way.

I can honestly say that Paypal hasn't really given me any problems, the odd blip here or there but easily solved with a quick phone call to them.

And think of the benefits - they process your eBay payments easily and securely and are there should you or the other eBayer have any issues. Plus the fact they are FSA regulated :T

Its not withdrawals, Paypal deposit money into your account. You then confirm the two amounts and get to keep those two amounts.

And from memory, I dont think you can just cancel the DD and carry on with Paypal. The bank will write to Paypal to tell them its been cancelled.

As I've said, I've used Paypal for nearly ten years now and never had a problem before. It's a good service.

With my old Paypal account, I added a bank account and was verified with no requirement to have a DD. I simply don't understand why they changed this and now make it compulsory.

    Hi there
Did you resolve your problem in the end?

I also have been with Paypal many years and never had a problem. Like you I never had to setup a DD when I first setup the account a long time ago!
I've just sold a few things so just want to transfer some of that cash into my current account.
I've just this minute done that but it says pending.
My balance has been amended tho so I'm wondering will it reach my account, or will it get rejected and I get charged .50p by Paypal!

I have no need to have DD setup because like you I just use my credit card to makes payments, which is better IMO as that has additional insurance unlike paying with a DD from my bank account!

I'm assuming my account will remain unconfirmed (It use to be confirmed a long time ago!!!) but now I assume if I do not setup the DD it will remain so?

Regards all, my first post here

I would avoid dealing with paypal at every possible opportunity.
Things have changed a lot since it first started and they have gone a bit over the top with protecting certain people.

The idea is not a bad one, however paypal don't seem to employ enough real people to deal with any problems.

I recently lost hundreds in a paypal account which was blocked for some unknown reason (a policy breach)

Iv confirmed everything i had to and called on numerous occasions to resolve to no avail.

Paypal seem to be above all rule and reasoning and you will get stung if you use them. Its only a matter of time.
