Hi EstherH
I have measured my 2lb loaf tin and it is a 9 inch by 5 inch tin. Glad everyone is enjoying it. Picnic season is almost upom us and it makes a great addition to the outdoor feasting.Sealed pot challenge member no 1057

My tea loaf sunk when i took it out of the oven and was all soggy in the middle! Did i take it out too soon or was it because i used my silicone loaf tin?
Also, once i had mixed the ingredients, i certainly couldn't 'pour' it in the loaf tin, i had to spoon it in as it was stodgy. I can't understand how i could've got 'cup' measurements wrong I'm usually good at cakes.
On the plus side it was still delish and myself, OH and DS all loved it!0 -
Thanks, Gurmswifie, I made the cake and it was lovely with a bit of butter. Unfotunately, the rest of the family weren't so keen. Oh well, more for me!
Changing subject, does anyone know how I would make chocolate fudge icing? I'm making a choccy cake next week for OH's birthday (without opening the oven door half way through - lesson learned) and want to top it with some icing.
Cheers, BirdyIt's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?0 -

Hi all
Inspired by this thread DS and I are making tea loaf tomorrow, as well as some crispie cakes. I also got stuff for making fairy cakes at some point, but was wondering is I can substitute stork for something cheaper? Like the 'normal' spread we use on toast etc (Al*i own make butterly stuff)
Also, the hairy bikers cookies recipe says flour - is that plain or self raising please?*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -

It's plain flour
Just read this thread thanks for the great recipes everyone.
I always bake my own cakes, I think it works out better, you might spend a little more on ingredients, but the cake will probably be bigger or you'll have more/bigger cookies ect.
Not to mention you can't get cakes that cheap here, a cheap cake at our supermarkets are around $4 -$50 -

I always check on the side of the pack with spreads - sometimes they'll have a list of "suitable for spreading, frying, baking" etc. Don't know if their's do though. If it's the same as Can't Believe type, then I'd give it a go!0 -
Been up since silly o'clock
Have made the tea loaf, but had to leave for one hour and cover to stop the top burning. Smells gorgeous though
Also flapjacks, butterfly cakes, pineapple upside down cake and twinks.
Now need to get some in the freezer so they don't get eaten in one day0
