Do you use Internet explorer? And do you know if you have broadband to connect to the internet?

Because your browser was likely hijacked - when you tried to download things earlier, you were redirected to fake products.

    It's easy to check:

From Internet Explorer select Tools > Internet Options, then select the Connections tab, then select LAN settings. You want the resulting page to look like this:

    http://www.users.on.net/~russ/connection.png

As in only one box checked, that being "Automatically detect settings". If yours looks different, please tell me how.

(The only reason it should look different is for people who use dialup or VPN, which is why I asked if you were on broadband)

Don't use Internet Exploder. Use Firefox with the Noscript addon, for better security.

While definitely a safer option, look through the whole of this thread, and tell me how usable that will be for her...

    :)

Nah I wouldn't worry about defragging. Just leave the scan go and do something more interesting, and check it in 20 minutes. When it's done, post if the full log for alienrik.

what are the answers to the questions in post 18, what happened with kaspersky, and did you uninstall spyhunter.

defrag will be a waste of time
