Three Mobile - All You Can Eat Data - One Plan - feedback & advice?

I haven't tried the dongle thing but as a new customer on the One Plan I have to say that my experience has been very positive.
No problems with reception, indeed I had signal when my mate on o2 didn't when we were playing golf the other day.0 -
I've been on this plan for two months now. Here's my experience.
All you can eat is unlimited in the true sense of the word. I consume around 20-30 gig 3G per month (around 80% of my usage is tethered too) and 3 seem to be happy for me to do so. I was a bit worried at first I'll admit, because as I was researching google before I got the plan I seemed to hear from a couple of people that 3 'throttled' their usage after a couple of months (even though they weren't heavy consumers) because 3 only give the 'good' service to it's new customers. This is definitely not true as after more researching (email to ofcom) this is technically illegal and if I ever did find myself in this situation I have grounds to kick off. So that gave me peace of mind.
One problem with 3's 3G, however, is that they had a nanny filter automatically applied to my internet; no !!!!!! and even some sites with rude language. I kicked off with them. Posted on 3's moderator forums and the mods told me this shouldn't be on the One Plan (apparently lots of other people were complaining on the forums about the same thing). Anyway after hearing of some success stories from other members saying they kicked off with 3 many times complaining about freedom of the internet blah blah, they eventually managed to get the nanny filter removed after about a week of complaining. As soon as this annoyance started gaining more and more attention to the masses, the mods got on top of it and helped all the newly One Plan members remove the filter by personally complaining to 3's India customer support. So in summary, it can be sorted with enough patience and will.
That brings me onto the MAJOR issue with 3; their customer service. If you do sign a 12 month contract with them, pray you never have the misfortune to ever have to rely on them for anything! They constantly contradict each other's information and seriously have no idea what their talking about. Thankfully after this whole removal of the nanny filter issue, I havn't since had to call them about anything. I hope it lasts.
Anyway in my area service is great. I can get download speeds of up to 5 megs a sec which is fasster than my broadband! And I visit my family in the countryside occasionally from which I get about 200 kb a sec so not too bad either.
Edit: A couple of years ago O2 were dictating the market because they offered the best service, but lately (since caps) they've been going down hill (speaking as ex O2 customer). And what 3 are doing is definitely a move in the right direction for the future of 3G internet. Without a doubt this is a game changer and other networks are gonna have to pull their fingers out if they want to keep up. God bless capitalism!0 -
Three have the uk's biggest 3g coverage.I have used them before and on the data side of things- they cant be beaten.Much faster speeds than the rest.

Unlimited simply doesn't exist on any mobile broadband sfaik and if it does it won't last for long once it becomes popular.
On the Vodafone contract if you are past your minimum term all you need to is phone up and they'll reduce it to £7.50 for 9 months then you phone again during the ninth month for a repeat. 3 give more bandwidth but the best 3G for anyone is from the provider with best coverage where they normally use it. For me that is Vodafone.
GiffGaff & 3 both have have truly unlimited data...0 -
I have iPad on 3 and phone on orange.
3 call centre is India but they easily have the best customer services,0 -
so, to confirm...
I was looking for mobile data for maybe 5 or 6 months, i already own 3 dongles (2 from 3 and one tmobile) from last year. I also have an android phone (gonna see about changing plan tomorrow and just tether, might be cheaper an my rooted phone is a great access point)
can i just get one of these sims and shove it in the zte? dongle and make a payment online with it? then unlimited net for just £15? that's a better deal than many landline contracts!
and i've been with 3 for a few years, and i agree with the earlier poster, their cs sucks
edit - seems tethering isn't allowed on PAYG - how would they know?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
