In retrospect, it may have been a bit dangerous if people went around not looking where they were going, but when I was growing up it was normal in my house to pop something that needed putting away at the bottom of the stairs for the next person who passed to take up. Helped keep the place tidy.:)
It's meant to be like that in this house too, but it doesn't happen so it's only me who moves it.
If someone had left something and I hadn't taken it up, then I'd hurt myself coming back down, whoever had left it would get it in the neck from me too.
If it's not my mess or they're not my belongings, they are nothing to do with me. I only move them out of the kindness of my heart to save the suffering of the lazy pig/s who left it there :A:DTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
So why didn't you pick the box of crap up on the way up?
Because it wasn't actually there......How would you deal with any kind of actual stress that you encountered in your life..?
Ooh get you
Clue is in the thread title RANT. Something we all do and are bloody well entitled to occasionally. Believe me I have plenty of stress in my life, the incident was minute in comparison but something I could have done without. In retrospect, it may have been a bit dangerous if people went around not looking where they were going, but when I was growing up it was normal in my house to pop something that needed putting away at the bottom of the stairs for the next person who passed to take up. Thats fab in theory, but living with a bloke and 2 teenage children in reality it doesn't happen. If its unbreakable it gets thrown up the stairs, if not then it shouldn't be on them
There is plenty of space in the hall to leave things for going up, leaving a box of crap 3 steps up is dangerous.
I did take myself out for an hour or two. When I returned DS had gone to his GF's and OH was sheepish lol DS, from the safety of his GF's called and apologised and peace was restored. Nothing has been left on the stairs since so my rant has had some effect
I think it probably is a good excuse to invest in a new wash basket though, and a bloody good excuse for a trip to Ikea
Thanks all for allowing me to let off steam a little. Just needed that rant on Saturday!0 -
Hope you feel better for your rant OP. I'm always tripping over things my kids have left lying around, or the dog. :rotfl:0

Just seemed, to me, like a slight overreaction to tripping over something and your husband and son annoying you..? I can't say as I felt compelled to log into MSE and start a thread when I stubbed my toe on the laundry box that my boyfriend failed to push back under the bed this morning. Are you menopausal, by any chance?0 -

It wasn't just the stuff on the stairs though was it, it was the attitude of the others in the house towards her.
OP, I'm married and have 2 teens and a little one. They all know when I'm 'on one' and all say 'what's up', 'there is something wrong', 'what you in a mood for' and it drives me maaaaaad too, especially when they know what's got my goat in the first place!
I daydream and pretend I've packed a bag and gone off for a couple of days to be pampered and looked after, till I wake up from reality to either one of the older 2 asking what there is to eat, or the little man looking at me with his baby blues and a stinky nappy :rotfl::rotfl:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Not even dignifying that with a response. It wasn't just the stuff on the stairs though was it, it was the attitude of the others in the house towards her.

Exactly, the stuff on the stairs was just another one of those things, it was the gang mentality of OH and DS and the "Ooh she's in one" digs, which frankly do drive me up the wall. Nothing worse than 2 supposedly 'adult' males insisting you are in a sulk when you really aren't, you just had a bit of a moan about something and moved on.0
