No I will not stop my whinging! I am very for helping each other out, I have done the long lists in the past, but due my DD being ill I was unable to update for a few days and it got on top abit, but actually realised that people dont NEED lists, and DTD went on without my list in my absence believe it or not! If you are not willing to make abit of time to have a quick look through the threads and make a little list, then you obviously dont 'want or need' this promotion enough. And people are saying 'I cant get the spreadsheet to work and I need to look at so and so', erm hello there is 421 pages of DTD chatter and deals here, type it into the searchbar!

And yes the spreadsheet will most certainly end the promotion sooner. If not actually pulled by tesco, it will be a case of 'you will be lucky to ever find a DTD item on the shelves'. Nobody needs a spreadsheet really do they? Yes it makes it easier, but for anybody who really wants to benefit from the promotion, I'm sure they will manage without it. The majority using it are probably people who could not be bothered to DTD otherwise, and certainly wouldnt be willing to help others out by posting deals etc. So why hand it to them on a plate?

isn't that a tad selfish and against the whole spirit of MSE?

in that case why not remove the whole thread so that no-one hears about it and you can keep everything to yourself?

and extend the argument and ask why people ever bother posting any grabbits ever?

if you don't help others they will be less likely to help you !

since i joined mse in jan i have picked up soooo many offers and i am very grateful to alot of posters but in return i also try where possible to post offers as quickly as i can so others can benefit.

I do see your point, but I figured that adding new "finds" to the spreadsheet would help get the item confirmed sooner rather than later (e.g. as people use the sheet rather than trawling through all the posts on here).

    For example....

Joe Bloggs finds that Gromitts are £2 at Tesco and £1 at Asda so makes a post about it.

If it's not updated on the spreadsheet, then within 15 minutes, his post is no longer on the current page of this thread. within the day, it is 6 or 7 pages back and very few actually see it to try it and confirm it.

However by putting it on the sheet, everyone sees itd it has no date of confirmation on there so people know it has yet to be confirmed...

What about if I set a Conditional format so cells without dates will automatically turn red, highlighting the fact there is no confirmation as yet. Then when you enter a date, it will auto revert to white... would that make it better?

Agree about adding new finds; I've been doing that as well, and same no confirmed date. Think we agree on that one.

I was more thinking of deals where prices have changed and have yet to be confirmed on the new price. It seems that prices are being changed on some things and the confirmed date is still in there from the old deal so it looks as though it has been confirmed. Perhaps we should remove the confirmed date if a price changes instead? What do you think...

I'm not sure we need to change the colour of anything though, I think as long as the confirmed date is empty then people are sensible enough to know what that means.

Is it worth leaving updates until someone has actually had a CONFIRMED back on the new price? I know that sometimes when they change the price it can trigger N/Fs and the new price isn't necessarily confirmed (unless I missed someone confirming it)?

Not trying to be a pain, but can you see where I'm coming from  If not then fair enough, but I have only been updating prices and deals as and when they get confirmed by someone.

Edit: Answers that question then, thanks MDstalker! :j
Agreed. I am using (and updating) the spreadsheet, but when it says confirmed I'm expecting it to mean that precise deal as listed was confirmed, not something similar worked.

Has anyone ever bothered to appeal anything? I bought some blackcurrent lucozade but I've heard that this flavour doesn't work. It's clearly on Asda's website exactly the same as the other flavours which have been confirmed. Seems a bit stupid that they wont compare on a certain flavour. Didn't know if it was worth contacting them to ask why they wouldn't compare it?
You can't complain, they added this to the T&Cs a few weeks back.

Aha! - i see what you are doing now - leave the spreadsheet there, but make it impossible to understand!

Using conditional formatting would help. Might also be worth adding a "warning" type colour for those which aren't coming back consistently, or those which have vanished from Asda temporarily, things like that? For example, vanish, well, vanished from Asda website so i suspect anyone who bought it since may not get the DTD. It was mentioned in the thread but a lot of people would have missed that info.

There were also some products which didn't always work - one of the herbal essences for example - where I think failures were due to some receipts calling it s/poo where as others called it shampoo!
