Just to make all you guys aware keep an eye out, especially in the wine aisle, for the banner signs that hang down where SA slips in an A4 sized poster with promos on as I got another 2 free bottles of wine today as OOD poster in one of these and 2 bottles of herbal essences free again due to OOD promo! The thing is staff remove SEL's but forget to remove these from the side banners or whatever they call them! Just an easier way to DTD without having to email and wait! Cash in hand!!!!

Sorry but can you explain this a little more ? How do you get cash in hand from this ?

Ok, I have seen about this a few times on this thread, tried to look on Tesco website today re 'store terms and conditions' but couldn't find details. I can see what you mean by what you are saying for getting a refund, but can someone please post exactly what your rights as a customer, so I feel I can go to CS feeling informed. Would be much appreciated, thanks. :T

haha its all got a bit confusing somewhere along the line, even tho im in scotland i google mapped elgin, i think the op was trying to say inverness is west of elgin as apposed to the west side of scotland, looking at the map i think elgin is higher point north than inverness centre though could be wrong my map reading leaves alot to be desired!

who knows im near glasgow and i get dizzy if i go past elgin, like i said before i would have a nose bleed near inverness. plus i cannae understand a thing you all say up there hahaha

inverness is about 40 miles north of elgin, its been named a 'tesco town' in the past by the press lol recently asda have been delivering from the elgin store tho and even more recently to where i am :D so is all good, we've been deprived of asda up until this point lol unless u take the trip to elgin every few weeks which we have done in past, good thing now tho is we can pick and choose between asda and tesco and one thing this has made me is an 'expert' on shopping basket comparisons lol

But given most of their costs will be relatively fixed, to make an additional (say) £100 they just need to sell (say) an additional £250 of goods, far lower than you were suggesting.

I understand what you are saying but I guess it really depends on the goods in question. Many items are loss makers and the beer and wine/spirits we have been taking, they will make very little on at all.

I guess each shop would differ. Needless to say, if you take a £100 worth of shopping for nothing, they will have to sell a hell of a lot more to get their cash back.

There should be a blue board/sticker at cs desks in all stores which has this policy on it - look for 'If things dont add up' near the bottom. Some cs staff are lovely and offer dtd as soon as they check the overcharge, some need reminding of the policy and some will act as though you taking the food from their table and need to be made to comply with company policy by their manager - why these people are employed as cs is beyond me.

Well I wouldn't want to be unreasonable about it, if the SEL is correct, can you still legitimately claim you were misled by the posters?

Vouchers came so late today. By the time I got to Tescos I was chasing up and down the isles like a contestant on Dale Wintons "Supermarket Sweep"! :D

:rotfl:Me too, and then I found a s/s dish drainer and had to recalculate my shopping list.

slight off topic, went to tesco today (naturally), got me tuna, bakers dog food, carling and some fox's cookies (staples diet of course), struggled back to me car, imagine my alarm to find some !!!!!! bag had reveresed into my newly cleaned car, and left not only a massive dint but massive black scuff, i was thinking omg noway is mr wham gonna believe this was not my fault, i started to frantically rub the offending dint and scuff with the edge of my cardi , nothing happening , by now i am sweatin and thinking he is gonna kill me, walks round car, yep it looks really bad, decides to bite the bullet and go home to face mr wham, presses car unlock, nowt happens, oh great i think now they battery on key fob is flat, yep you guessed it, it wasnt my car lol lol

From MSN money Tesco 1-year net profit margin: 4.2%

Is this across their whole business?
Finance, petrol, insurance etc As they make more than 4% net from the food retail operation

Yep if the price is dispalyed in the store then they should give dtd, most do without any probs but you always get the odd one. I would also advise walking with them to the item even if they say don't bother as I have known shelf tickets to disappear.

what so inverness only had tesco as a supermarket - no other ones??? thats shocking, they certainly cornered the market. good old asda tho coming to the rescue with home deliveries - just dont expect your delieveries when its snowing theyre a bit pants at that lol!

i thought morrisons were running the show in scotland, with asda thrown in the mix, as i cant seem to go anywhere here without seeing one. my nearest tesco though is miles away - same with sainsburys! maybe different in the north!
