Could someone tell me roughly how much car insurance would be? I'm 24 and would be driving my mums car, 1 year old corsa.littlepinkstars44 wrote: »no. Shes getting a new car next year. so the car would be mine, if i wanted it which is why i am asking
That wasn't clear from your first post.:)
I'd be tempted to try a local insurance broker. You won't get loads of spam. You will be asked the right questions to get you the cover you need. There's no obligation. The internet isn't always the answer.0 -

I dont want to ask my mum, she might take this as a hint that I want to learn to drive, and I'm not sure if I do. Shes been on at me for years, and if I bring it up it'll start the whole why dont you get some lessons again.
Pop over to confused.com or similar, put the details in, you can put your mum as the main driver and yourself as the named driver (I'm guessing she'll be using it more still?). Need to remember where you live, your age, how long you've been driving for make a big difference, however 25 is meant to see a big drop in prices. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
Thanks for the replies. I would be the only named driver, as like I said my mum will be getting a new car next year. And by the time I start learning to drive, and the time it will take me to pass the test, I'm guessing it will be next year by then. lol...thats if I decide to go though with it, I'm still not too sure about driving. It isn't something I've ever been interested in.
Cheapest on confused.com is £939.61 starting Jan 1st next year, thats with Admiral.
Is that good then do you think?0 -

Seems pretty good to me, similar to what I paid when I first started to drive, but prices have gone up a lot since then. Know some people who are paying £2,000+.
Worth a look at Bell and Elephant, they are the same company as Admiral, but can often play them against each other. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
Still putting your mother on as a named driver will make a differecne
I purchased my 17 Year Daughter a 2008 Citroen C2, Christmas 2009, before she passed her test.
As a learner they wanted £1720 a year with just her on the policy,
My adding myself and Husband as named drivers (Its important they go on as named drivers and not as the main driver or that would be fronting and is a real no-no)
So Daughter on own £1720
Daughter as main driver, me and husband as named drivers £640
Go figure, she passed her test in July 10 then cost £70 extra to up the policy to full licence holder still keeping myself and husband as named drivers
When renewal came through with 1 years NCD they wanted £907
When to another company (Part of same company operating under a different name), and they offered same policy for £575
So
1: Putting a couple of named drivers on WILL Help, even if they never drive it they have the opurtunity to,
2: Shop around they will always try and stich you on renewal.
(The 2 companies involved are Admiral & Elephant)Over 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0 -

That's not bad for a new driver to be honest. I'd try somebody like Adrian Flux though.0 -

Agreed - could be much worse.
I wasn't interested either when I learned, but it's very useful and convenient to be able to drive and would it affect your work prospects?0 -
Sounds within the realms of being about right. Also I've found with Admiral (I've been with them over a year, and have spent many hours playing around with their system!) its actually cheaper to keep the car on the road than driveway or garaged for some reason. Was that comp or TPFT? If TPFT, consider going comp and putting XS up to max. The increase will be about £10 but you get a few extras like windscreen cover that 3rd party doesn't get you.
Also, Admiral does a multicar policy, so if you get your car and your mother's on one such policy you can knock around 10% off that price. You can't mess up each others NCB if that's what your thinking as well...
Is there any young/new driver not insured with Admiral these days?! Everyone who comes on here seems to say they're cheapest. Certainly are for me, by a long way...0 -
Because they spam you to hell. I've put my real e-mail address on comparison websites and had to unsubscribe from the crap that they sent each week.
Easier putting a false e-mail address in until you're actually ready to purchase a policy.
you dont get spammed alot, all you get is an email about the quote from so and so, i recently used confused.com, go compare and moneysupermarket and entered my email address and only emails i got were about the quotes but i dont get anymore0 -

Then you would want the policy in your name not your Mum's or you could get done for fronting (hypothetically, if you decide to take lessons and pass)0
